As I bring my various pewters on line I am running into an issue with SETI...Not enough work, so I am looking for suggestions as to what other projects we are involved with that need some help to improve our stats.

Rosetta is also a worthwhile project. Ok on credit and I have yet to see it run out of work.

Well after much consternation, I've gotten all my systems up and running BOINC. I have 3 running SETI and 2 running Einstein, so well see what happens.

And Now For Something Completely Different

I do have a silly question, yeah, I know it needs to be a silly walk but mine is a silly question. The screensaver does not seem to function on the two Vista boxen, I've done some poking around and haven't found any answers. Any one here know where I can find out what is going on?

BOINC is not fully Vista compatible. It works, but the screen saver part needs updating. Version 6 of BOINC should be fully Vista compatible. So you have some wait.

Although you may want to know that the screen saver takes up processing time. Some machines worse than others. If you have shared memory video cards, or low end cards, the CPU is eaten up processing the screen saver. I personally just use the blank screen saver (or shut off monitors and save power).

Yeah, modern graphics cards (especially high end cards) use as much, or more, power than the processor itself. You could easily double the power consumption of your machine by using the screen saver hehe.

I have a Vista laptop that I shrub on. I don't bother with a screen saver on it and it seems to shrub just fine.

Take a look at my signature in this post and those are a lot of projects that I run.

PrimeGrid never runs out of work, just some of the newer WU's are long (the WOO/CULL). Cosmo, seems to have a bit of work now. There is also many more that I can not remember.

And here's all of the projects (that are tracked by BOINCStats, there are a few that aren't yet on this list I think) that KWSN is active in:

That's because I haven't updated it in ages and I didn't want to point that out. Now I have to go update it, damn you!
