Beware

I attached one of my quad cores and 40 work units appeared. All well and good. Then I noticed that the deadline was about 1¼ days. Still OK if the shrubs are fairly quick.

This morning, the first 3 RNDs are running on "high priority", showing 11½ to 14¼ hours so far and between 34% and 56% complete, so 2 should just make the deadline and 1 will miss by ~15 hours; and this despite hogging ¾ of a quad-core for a day or so!

For the moment I've set RND to "no more work" and suspended the other 37 WUs. There is no message board on the site yet (the link leads to a blank page), so I can't ask them the obvious questions, i.e. will credit be granted for late shrubs and why is the deadline so short.

I'll report back tomorrow on whether the late unit gets any credit.

PROGRESS REPORT:

WU#1 - ~21½ hours crunching, reached 100%, errored out with "output file absent".

WU#2 - ~21½ hours crunching, reached 100%, errored out with "output file absent".

Results "temporarily suspended" on web site, so I can't see what's happening - still showing 0.00 credit.

WU#3 - ~24 hours crunching, 61½% complete (so ~18 hours to go). I've suspended it until I find out what's going on.

Somehow, I get a nagging feeling that this project isn't quite ready for prime-time yet.
