I just came into the bacement a little while ago. I heard a pop/snap/clunk type of noise coming from my computer (it was on & shrubbing away at the moment). I went over, saw nothing amiss, smelled nothing amiss & heard nothing out of the ordinary either.
So I shut it down, pulled it down and proceded to open it up. Everything seemed ok there too.
I closed it up put it back, plugged everything back in (damn there is a lot to plug into the back of a machine) and fired it back up.
Everything came back up no problem......now should I worry or should I go about my busniness like everything is ok? _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Maybe you have been traumatized by your breakfast, so I think you heard these guys, except it is 'Crackle' NOT 'Clunk'.

Could be as simple as a case fan getting a tad on the dusty side. Do you have the bios setup to automatically shut down if things get hot? Beyond that I'm a compulsive backup type person and would suggest burning a couple of dvds of any important data just in case it was an imminent hard drive failure you were hearing. _________________

Ok, that's bugs. They've always been there.
I would say, don't worry. If youve checked, surely nothing will happen... so far. _________________

I think it must be the wee people dancing on your hard disc, they love it, you will need to bribe them with food and drink to lure them away.

Having opened the case I can tell you tat there wasn't too much dust, (just a little, not even enough to merit getting out the canned air) and I did not even see any bugs (mabe a fan got one). I will be starting the back up process today though (I have a second HD in there & a copy of Acronis just for that purpose....) _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!
