Superlink@Technion
The team's set up, with a few points on the board.
It seems to be doing much the same sort of work as SIMAP and The Lattice Project. _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

Hey, I'm running second to you. What a miracle!!!!!
It's a pity it won't last.
In the end, I had to run it in other machine (due to a lack, or better said too little, RAM)

I am going to sit out on this project. To much like some of the others and a memory hog as well.

Yes. It's devouring my laptop. Think I better suspend it, for a while at least. _________________

As most of my shrubbers have "only" got 1GB RAM, with on-board graphics and Windoze essential baggage using ~350k, I'm left with just a couple of machines with enough memory (700k+) to run this one.
Oh well, it'll just have to be a low-priority project. _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

Have you "optimized" your Windows installations on those machines? Disabled non essential services, undefined sounds, etc? I found the little things make a huge difference on machines where you're fighting for resources. _________________

it doesnt really matter how much you optimise XP....
for this app
a single core need 750MB RAM
dual core ness 1.5gb
quad core 3gb
8 core ..... don't bother on a 32 bit OS !!!

Well that's only true if you plan to run it on every core. I don't do that with ANY projects.
At any rate, you can easily shave 100MB (or more) off what XP is using for the system by optimizing the OS. If you have 1 GB and need 750 free, you could probably do it. _________________

Just noticed a first (for me, anyway). With Superlink running on one of my lowish memory machines, I had about 6 other WU's (mainly SIMAP) showing as "Waiting for Memory".
Never seen that one before! _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

Easiest Windows optimization: Wipe it and install Linux! _________________
