I've been running it for a few weeks owing to the short work units since I'm in repair mode on several machines right now and I'm going on and off-line a lot. Even my paltry 600-ish RAC has increased our ranking a good bit. It wouldn't take much to break into the top ten on that one. Anyone care or see the point?

I might give it a go Elwood. I'm a bit tied up with the climate stuff, but I'll see what I can do.

I crunch Primegrid on my one machine. The WU's are not that long. I think it would help us overall and maybe get some new people. Any clue what rank we are currently?

I'm not really sure what the benefit of searching for primes is but I think it's pretty cool!

I'm tacking together another Dual Core AMD machine this week and I'll probably throw it at PrimeGrid.

If anyone can provide any additional insight on this project let me know, please...

I have discovered a Prime there, and now I can use it as a pick up line with the ladies.

...and that has gotten you how many dates????

Wink Wink

One of the guys that I flew with when I was a USAF instructor pilot used to tell girls that he drove a garbage truck. He claimed that got him more dates than telling 'em he was a flight instructor. We were at a bar in San Antonio one evening and he tried that line... got shot down. From behind our booth a guy said 'You should try telling 'em that you're an NBA coach, works for me every time.' The voice belonged to Pat Riley, one of the most famous coaches in NBA history.

We need a BOINC project that could provide ya' with a pickup line that works that well...

Maybe something like 'PerfectPickUps@home'?

He was getting drunk. His team had just gone down in flames to the Spurs.

Why is Prime Grid 'project down' much of the time? Or is it trying to tell me something?...

Well, there's a lot to like. The app is small, and the first WU I downloaded is projected to take only about an hour and a half on the Celery.

Leiden wouldn't even run on the Celery, because it requires more space than the entire capacity of the hard drive!

We were 19th overall when I checked. Perhaps a few more WUs from the Celery will help move us up.

Sir Ice they are raising funds to buy a dedicated server since they do not have that now. So you get those messages saying the server is down because the allowed server load is being reached at that moment.

Yeah, I got a "project down" message, too, but it didn't last long, and the Celery kept happily shrubbing the already-downloaded WUs in the meanwhile.

I have a whole 8 RAC showing on this project. I hope that every little bit really does help Embarassed

I babysit BOINC a bit more on this one than usual. I suspend network activity except for once or twice a day and then take a stab at uploading/downloaded. So far I've yet to get any Project Down messages going that route. I have an irrational aversion to messages in red. Cool

There is some value in crytpography/encryption from this project. I believe the RSA challenge is still in effect, which involves a cash prize for finding the two factors, both primes, of a very large number. The disappointing aspect there is that if RSA multiplied two primes, they must already be known.
