What the heck is goin' on with Einstein@home???
Last weekend I was unable to upload any shrubs at all. Finally, on Monday, the server started accepting my WUs... Now it's Deja Vu all over again... Same stuff...
My pending is up to 16200... Only one of my machines (oddly, one of my AMD doolies...) is able to upload anything...
This is frustrating.
I'm not downloading any work, either...

I've been pumping out work...
The only time that I've had problems (other than when they lost a drive) has been last weekend and this...
I'm wondering if they're taking down portions of the system to do additional work in the weekends...
It would be nice if they could pop a little blurb up on the home page to let folks know what's up...
In addition to my pending, I've got over 300 results that won't upload...
Bummer... _________________

All my rigs have no issues. There is pending issues, as I see the status page shows it's way behind.
Since Bruce gearing up and moving to Germany, things really have changed over there, though. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

Einstein is definitely broken:
Notice something missing?

I managed 2,200 credits yesterday even without them (though SETI must have had a similar issue because I show over 900 for the day which is well above normal). _________________

I was just going to post the same topic.
My pending credit is 5000 and numerous machines cant send in work. last message on home page is from 1/24. They have been down at least 3 times since then.
How about a little info for the grunts.......

Reading through the forum it seems that there's something going on on a bigger scale, with Einstein just being the first to have the problem in a measurable way. If it's to be believed, there's some database issue that's being worked on that will impact all projects sooner or later. I guess all we can do is wait for something official, because there's been no word at all. _________________

Yeah... I'm now at 22000 pending and I don't have a clue how many are now ready to upload.
Several of my faster multi-processor boxes have been without work for a day now.
As you say, no word at all and it's reminding me of the worst days of SETI@home Classic. We were treated like mushrooms; kept in the dark and fed crap.
I sure hope that things aren't as bleak as they seem to be. I enjoy Einstein tremendously and appreciate the science. I'd hate to turn my back on the project after such a significant investment.
Sigh...

This is why all of my multi-processor boxes crunch 2 projects. If one pukes, the other fills up the slack time until the first project can come back online, and it requires absolutely no effort on my part to do that hehe. _________________

I have both my machines running multiple projects, so there is always something there to be shrubbed. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

E@H = beat up from the feet up.
Server status page says: The server status page has temporarily been taken offline due to database problems
Forums say: Unable to connect to database - please try again later Error: 1040#08004Too many connections
And still no word from anyone in charge. What a mess. Even if they magically fixed it right now, it'd take days for the servers to work through all the queued results. Heck, I've only got one machine on Einstein and it's already at 2,332.59 pending credit. Lucky for them that machine happens to be offline tonight. _________________

I currently have over 1500 in pending credit, but I think I got some from them overnight. I wonder what is happening. I'm sensing another big crash from them or at least another extended (couple of days) of down time for "maintennance". _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I hate to be redundant but this looks sooooo much like the last six months or so of SETI@home Classic that it's frightening.
Not much worked, no communication from the powers that be, and folks abandoning the project for greener pastures.
I recall when I first joined the project the home page boasted of how many days they had run without any downtime... Try that now and the needle wouldn't move off the '0' peg.
What a shame...

I am not giving up hope. I know there are personnel changes going on, the people behind BOINC have found a database issue that Einstein is experiencing, and that word has been sparse.
I also know that those people have pretty well full time jobs (professors, etc.) along wit the project. So, sometimes things get a little behind. Problem is, if it is a BOINC side issue, then Einstein really could not fix until the new database changes come from them.
I hope some other news come through (we did have a nice e-mail from Gary Roberts a couple days ago), and let's us know that the issue is identified, being fixed/fixed, and we can roll merrily on.
I am never discouraged by project issues. I am a project coordinator, and know how thin we can be stretched. Issues come in from all sides, and we need to try to keep our heads cool, understand people are frustrated, and try to do the best for all. The best for all is not always the answer people want to see, but it keeps the project from totally falling apart.
Crunch on, do backup projects, remember these are skeleton crews behind the scenes, and that they have lives and family, also. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

Hmm, I see signs of life!
My pending credit did go down by this amount as well. W00.
I have no idea what's going with SETI, unless they really did have a similar problem and recently sorted it out. 1300/day is about 3x normal. _________________

Matt L posted about a database issue that was starting to affect other projects, so I asked if this was the same thing going on at Einstein, he confirmed it was and that the fix was handed over today. Now David needs to implement, compile and bring online.
Hopefully this gets done in a timely manner, and then the database stress goes down, and boom the project is back to normal. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

My pending has dropped a bit in Einstein but I've now got some 600 results waiting to upload. I've tried a variety of tricks to get them to move without success. I've got five idle machines.
Bummer...
I'm looking at the projects you folks have recommended to fill in the void Einstein has left.

Well I am over 12,000 pending credit on Einstien. This is aproaching 10 days of credit. While this is not a big problem for me I can see how all the users of Einstien will update when it comes back and the sheer numbers of credit will overload the system and crash it again. Not to mention everyones graphs totaly screwed up for a couple of months.
