I believe i'll have 3rd place all to myself as I had a 1610 pt. today. That brings me up to 4102 CS. They have been playing with the credit system. My claims jumped by 5 times. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |

I hit the last of my v5.04 WUs today and got the error popup of doom, bringing my crunching to a halt for awhile. Sorted now, and all 5.05 WUs, but I still lost some hours. _________________

Mmm. Methinks a credit recalculation might be on the cards.
At 7am this morning* I had 6749 at an RAC of 401. 6 hours later I've got 38945 @ 3559!!
Let's think, thats 32k in 6 hours at ~10% of resources... plus 6, carry 7... help, more toes needed..... 1¼ million a day!!!!
I know my current farm produces pretty decent credit, but not this much, not even in my wildest dreams! (I wish)
*well, it wasn't 7am this afternoon, except in Australia . _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

I'm gonna agree with this one Sir Dente, I went to bed with 4932 and 301 RAC. Woke up to 19134 and 1800 RAC. Normally it would take 5 mos of straight shrubbing 24/7 to get anywhere near that, and my highest BOINC project at the moment is RS. (Now this one). Keep in mind that I only have 1 dual core working away. [Edit] Added graph to show Nano-Hive on Viagra [/Edit]

It's intentional. They updated their scoring script and re-evaluated all work units, I guess because it was under scoring initially. They say the new credits are for real. The RAC is bogus though, it's sky high simply because you gained all those credits in one day hehe.
Edit: It does play havoc with BOINCstat graphs though, pretty funny.

From what I gather in the forums, they were using baseline BOINC scoring. Evidently nobody else does, in fact the projects brought up for comparison (like SETI@Home) are using BOINC baseline multiplied by 9! So, they're re-evaluating work units to fix the issues with some hosts over-claiming and others under-claiming (to normalize score for the same work unit) and re-scoring all work units to match the S@H 'defacto' standard. _________________

Read what I said, it's not really 22k in one day, it's all of your existing work being re-scored. It should normalize over the course of this week, it'll play havoc with BOINCStats all week long I'm sure. _________________

Not much question they were under granting credits, but it seems to me this is way way out of line the other direction.
Doesn't particularly matter as credits are an arbitrary number thrown out there to appease the masses. I'd like to believe that I would continue to crunch no matter what the credits are, I know it doesn't factor into which projects I run.
But it does keep some people happy and advances the science overall so it's a good thing (tm) by Martha. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

Actually, from what they've said, they're just correcting it to what SETI@Home uses. Ironically, that's something like 9 times the baseline BOINC scoring, which is what they were using before. So, yeah, you will gain a lot of credits by the time the week is over. _________________

they've got this wrong..... I've never seen people complaining of getting too much credit before but check this out
http://www.nanohive-1.org/atHome/forum_thread.php?id=143#3520
basically they've been using a benchmark that's about 3 times the Optimised SETI client output..... this is really going to cause havoc amonst the boinc project community if they leave this as is...... as the credit ho's will flock to Nanohive.... we'll then end up in some boinc credit war as other projects realise that they're loosing their uber shrubbers to NanoHive......

Yeah, they over-corrected. They said initially they'd be sorting it out all week, now we know why. It'll normalize, like I said above. And since people will be dropping score as well as gaining it, it'll play even more havoc with BOINCStats lol.
Edit: Yeah, just looked at todays update on BOINCStats. 1800 credits for me from NHAH. Considering I have it running on 2 rigs it's probably about 3x what it should be.
I've had problems with the 5.05 app locking up a core when it errors. I've posted in their forums to see if there's anything I can do to fix it, if not I'm going to drop the project until the next app comes out. _________________

Already removed from all but one of my systems. I guess it's just not ready for prime time. But I may consider it down the line, just more interested in curing all of mankinds diseases at the moment. As soon as I finish that, there will be lots of CPU cycles available. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

As for fixing credits i've lost 1087 so far, and thats still running Nano-Hive 24/7. That's alright though, wasn't expecting a huge dump like that from adding shrubbery vitamins. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |
