Here's another one for the slackers...
This truck driver hauling a tractor-trailer load of computers stops for a beer. As he approaches the bar he sees a big sign on the door saying "Nerds Not Allowed - Enter At Your Own Risk!" He goes in and sits down. The bartender comes over to him, sniffs, says, "You smell kind of nerdy. What do you do for a living?" The truck driver says, "I drive a truck, and the smell is just from the computers I am hauling." The bartender says, "Okay, truck drivers are not nerds." and serves him a beer.
As he is sipping his beer, a skinny guy walks in with tape around his glasses, a pocket protector with twelve kinds of pens and pencils, and a belt at least a foot too long. The bartender, without saying a word, pulls out a shotgun and blows the guy away. The truck driver said, totally shocked, "Why did you do that?" The bartender said, "Not to worry, the nerds are overpopulating Silicon Valley and are in season now. You don't even need a license."
The truck driver finishes his beer, gets back in his truck, and heads back onto the freeway. Suddenly he veers to avoid an accident, and the load shifts. The back door breaks open and computers spill out all over the freeway. He jumps out and sees a crowd already forming, grabbing up the computers. They are all engineers, accountants and programmers wearing the nerdiest clothes he has ever seen.
He can't let them steal his whole load. So, remembering what happened in the bar, he pulls out his gun and starts blasting away, felling several of them instantly. A highway patrol officer comes zooming up and jumps out of the car screaming at him to stop. The truck driver said, "What's wrong? I thought nerds were in season." "Well, sure," said the patrolman, "But you can't bait 'em."

I would prefer Lady Earnsalot at the Stripclub, but I suppose he's welcome too _________________

If Sir Spends a lot and Lady Makes a lot got married, I think it would be fairly obvious who wore the pants in the relationship. _________________

If the relationship worked out right, NO ONE would be wearing any pants (or anything else in that case)! _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Well it seems that my original estimate of Sir Spendsalot was incorrect. It looks like he will still break 1 million a day easily, However.
Perhaps this will put us back in the 2 month range of Crunchies. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

The gap keeps closing, and yet time is still going backwards.

That's because they are gettin skeered. The day I started we were 106 days behind. Best I have seen is 58 I think. My buddy Sir Spendsalot WILL put in over 1 million a day, ESPECIALLY if he thinks he can top me.

I've been trying to hit 1 million/day but I just can't quite do it without fear of setting off warning bells left and right. Even throttled back that might happen. At my current rate I think I'm heading for over 400 GB downloaded this month which exceeds my ISP's official policy by a factor of 10
Sometimes I wish I lived in another country where the bandwidth flows like milk and honey... but alas I'm stuck in the middle of Kansas and even though we have transcontinental fiber backbones running under the wheat fields, our local ISPs are stuck in the 90s
Apparently they don't do too much monitoring and I do only let it go wild from midnight to 6 AM when their network should have excess capacity. Occasionally I have fired up the laptop and put it on one of several open access points in my apartment complex and let it do a bucket or two... |

Yeah, it's sad, but I read last year that the USA now has the worst data infrastructure of any industrialized nation. Yay us! That's why my rated-at-8mbps line can only handle 350kbps.
Next time I move it's going to be somewhere with FiOS access. _________________

Maybe you should take a vacation to Sweden?
See the lovli lakes.
It's not like I can ever get the 30MBit I'm paying for , but at least there's no whining about monthly restrictions.
Be careful with that laptop MacG. M12 will fry the HD if you let it have too much bandwidth.
I'll squeeze in a braggin' too: 500 million URLs! Woot!
