I know we are all Loonie but do any of you think that I would be in need of medication if I were to do something like this?
* GIGABYTE GA-8I945GZME-RH Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 945GZ Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
* Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model HH80551PE0672MN - OEM
Combo price $126.99
Broadway Com Corp P4OKIA600-Blue ATX 600W Power Supply - Retail $31.00
mushkin 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) System Memory Model 991496 - Retail $58.50
This is a Dual Core 805 Smithfield, Most people say you can OC it to at least 3.2 some say 4 gig.
I have spare cases
I put linux on it and put it on the lan and Just Shrub Shrub.
Would that be nutz? A dual core shrubber for under $350.00????? _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Hi Sir Papa.....
I have two 805 powered machines....running with an 945 chipset....
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=777157
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=828682
a couple of things to note......
they use a lot of power when running @ 100% cpu, you can expect to O/C with the stock cooling upto about 3ghz... any more you need better cooling... 3.6 ghz + is do-able if you have water cooling.
the price is a good one, but if you o/c be prepared for high power bills.... I feel that extreme O/C is false economy, if you factor the power bills in as well as the h/w cost......
bith of mine are no O/C'd at all at the moment, after my last bill....

When I saw the chip was $99.00 I just had to see if it was do-able.
one of your machines put in 27 small packets in a day and the other one put in 40 small packets. That is not that fast is it. At best 500 credits a day. I just recently had a AMD 64 single core that was doing 450 avg.
And I guess that for me to bitch about the bill would be Kinda dumb as I have a 6 person hot tub sucking down juice. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Add the cost of a heatsink since that's an OEM CPU, good ones ain't cheap . |

don't forget my RAC's are screwed at the moment due to Einsteins problems and I've also been running LHC as well which isn't producing any stats.

about 500-600 per day looks about right....the one with 1gb ram also runs CPDN as well.....
My advice is, if you want to go dual core, is to wait and to save up to get an Core Duo 2, my E6300 flies, and is just as o?c able as the 805, was 1.86ghhz, currently 2.23, and that's with stock cooling - as they run really cool.

Yeah I thought about heat sinks. My main comp has a zalman and I love it.
I have been thinking about Conroe's for quite a while but the price isn't coming down at all. I just read an article about AMD's plans and this makes me believe that they won't be coming down any time soon. Also If I go Conroe then Everyting will cost more because there is no way that I would make a machine like that a dedicated shrubber.
your 6300 did 58 small ones on the 29th. THAT"S what I'm talkin' bout _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......
