Einstein is down at the moment. Their website http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ has the following posted:
Quote: | Einstein@Home STATUS
[Last update: Fri Nov 24 14:38:00 UTC 2006]
At 04:53 UTC on November 24, a critical file server failed.
We hope to have this repaired and working by 07:00 UTC November 25.
This is our first project downtime in more than 160 days.
More information will be posted here as we have it.
If you are new to the project, please come back here in a day or two!
If you are already participating in Einstein@Home, there is no need for
any action on your part. Please just be patient.
Thank you,
Bruce Allen

If I am not mistakes I saw something on their website the other day about how long their site has been up. Now within days the site is down. NEVER mess with the computer gods......

And it had to happen on a holiday weekend in the US. It was Thanksgiving on Thursday, so the school had a 4 day weekend.
They did an excellent job getting back online.
Yes the validator went wacky about day 150 without trouble. They are calling it now about 160 days without a major outage, which is true, cause the validator did not bring down the systems, it just did some fuzzy work for a while.
Anyway, they worked very diligently to get this up and running, without too long of an outage (24 hours is fine with me), and they are as good as ever, it seems. Out thanks should go to the project people, for their hard work. I've already posted my thanks. |
