Gone, all gone. BOINC Manager is empty, everything has disappeared.
Computer was playing up yesterday morning (filter keys on, all the emails in the inbox being highlighted instead of just one etc.) so I restarted it. I have a feeling that problem may have been caused by a little cat called Jaffa walking on the keyboard through the night.
But would that cause all my BOINC accounts, all 15 or so of them, to disappear?

Michelle, I've got to go to work so I'll make this quick. Snooze Boinc, then exit, Boinc, then restart your computer, and wait until it complete loads all programs. Then go to Boinc and unsnooze. It will take a bit, but it will reattach. I'm sure you don't have to snooze it, but I usually do, and it brings everything back when I have a computer meltdown... I hope this works. _________________ Confucious say, "Man who lay girl on hill, not on level"

Delusional actions should be posted in the Imaginary Thread. Can we get a moderator to move this? |

As shocking as it is for me to actually realize I helped someone kinda technically, I've found that it sometimes takes me two reboots to get things running correctly and get boinc back up. Lately my computer has been locking up while the screen saver is on, so I'm setting the screen saver to blank to see if it will continue to be a problem. _________________ Confucious say, "Man who lay girl on hill, not on level"

Glad to hear Michelle got her BOINC back. But it made me think: Is there any way a regular backup would guard against such a loss? If so, what files should be included?
It is quite possible that this is a nincompoop question. _________________

Good question, Bellator. I wonder if it could be done. Hopefully, one of our more computer literate looneys, but maybe not Mr. Snrub , could answer that one.
Humph! Delusion is simply a state of mind. _________________ My brain hurts.
