Pint of bitter as in bitter ale, I suppose. Not Angostura bitters as in lemon, lime and bitters. Yummy! Haven't had lemon, lime and bitters for years.

Actually, no. I can't drink beer like that. My personal best was 6 or 7 bottles one night (spread out over the whole night of course). Felt like $h!+ the next day. I'm happy having a rum and coke or something similar.

Bitter is a type of beer. Beer as known in most of the rest of the world is known here as lager.
A typical bitter has an alcoholic strength of 4-5%.
As a comparison wine is approx 12-15%.
How does that compare with yours?
I've heard that American beer is all froth & no substance although that could well be ignorance and prejudice on our part.

BTW, I can drink whatever thing you want me to: beer, wine, rum, cider, gin, wodka, whisky, absentha..... indeed water.

Now, where was I? Oh yes.

[memories]Aged ~17, a friend and I went on a camping trip to the West Country (Devon, Corwall & Dorset). One hot sunny day, after a few hours walking, we came upon a pretty little village (don't ask the name, for reasons which will become apparent later) at about lunchtime and called into the only hostelry for sustinence.

A Ploughman's lunch (½ a loaf, ~½lb good Cheddar and a hunk of butter that would make your cholesterol run away and hide) was produced and we were about to order bitter when we espied three barrels (the 55 gallon type) perched on a trestle behind the bar. We were informed that they contained 3 types of local "scrumpy", so we had a pint of the first barrel; it was so cloudy you couldn't see through it, but, with some trepidation, we took it outside and sat down in the sun for our meal.

It was booful and went down a treat, so a sample of the second barrel followed, and this in turn disappeared without touching the sides. We had by this time finished the food, but decided we couldn't leave without tasting the third variety.

The next morning, we awoke about a mile from the village, under a hedge. Neither of us could remember a thing after buying the third pint.[/memories]

Now that, friends, is Zuyder.

BTW, if you want to get blotto quickly, try a mix of Vintage Cider and Barley Wine. Goes down a treat, but absolutely lethal.

Where can I get some Zuyder? We are having the (in-law) family over for Thanksgiving next week and I might need it, no I WILL need it to either forget the whole day, OR to entertain myself by getting some of them so messed up that they will think my suggestions are great ideas that must be done right away.

Only one way mate.
Go to the west country eg Somerset
find a village so small it only has 5 houses, 3 sheep & 1 pub
ask to try the local cider
get home one week before returning to work, you'll need to recuperate
try in vain to remember how good it was.
