Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am.
While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking,
he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA),
designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE)!
and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet(MADE IN INDIA)
he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today.
After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN)
to the radio (MADE IN INDIA)
he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY)
filled it with GAS from Saudi Arabia
and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia),
Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL)
poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE)
and turned on his TV(MADE IN INDONESIA),
and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.. AMERICA ....

Rant Mode on ..

The US unfotunatly was built on its industrial capabilities. The US is no longer the Industrial powerhouse and can not compete in a global market because raw materials and labor is to expensive.

The US will need to re-invent it self if it does not want to repeat a similar past mistake by another nation that was once a super power. USSR you say? Nope an older super power than that. Try the Romans, who's downfall was its trade deficit that eventually it could not pay for all the goods it imported. The goverment started to collapse because they had no viable currency that other nations and even provinces would accept.

A rising nation is United Arab Emirates. They saw that they to would have the following problem once there oil ran out. So once the wells ran dry they re-invented themselves. Now they are the second largest supplier of service based industries next to India who is specializing in Tech services. They also are investing heavily in tourism to bring people from other countries to bring there currency in having a trade surplus not a trade deficit. Yes they did have the backing of there government and the billions they made on oil.

But the US has the ability, we've done it before look at how we came out of the great depression, how we sacrificed and made a stronger nation during WWII, but I do question if the US has the will power or strength do to it now are will we fall due to the corruption and apathy of the government.

Also what does it mean to buy US think carefully before answering. Still curious to read my ex wife's thesis some day, but in a nutshell here was her thesis for her masters. Does it mean to buy US the Toyota built in Indiana? Does it mean to buy US the Pontiac GTO, Pontiac Aztec, Chevy Avalanche all 90+% built in other countries. GTO - Australia, Aztec and Avalanche - Mexico. Some items like SunGlasses or cell phones, electric shavers are almost entirely made in other countries if you can find one made in the US that is not 5 years old good luck.
