|
|
I've got my new shrubber with Vista on it I'm going to transfer my Windows XP files to the new Vista machine but I wanted to know from some of you which might be the more hassle-free way I should do it. I've got a Radioshack PCLinq2 USB cable and software that works great with XP but I don't think the software for it will work with Vista I want to transfer Adobe, text, jpg, and music and video files. Anybody have any problems with a particular transfer method?

Ohh Noo.....
Be prepared for a massive drop in performance whilst vista spends half of its time encrypting anything and everything on your system.

Ah crap, I was hoping there was some way to avoid something like that.
That info about Vista at badvista was pretty scary. Now I'm mad

Remember how they killed LinSpire (formerly Lindows) or at least left it bleeding toward death so they could claim a lack of responsibility for an ignorant public's lack of awareness ... Well, I'd say that the control factor is significant and that they certainly don't want an educated free-thinking freely-deciding public ... but I'm a student of Georges (Orwell, Harrison, and Lucas, not the Bush-leaguers) and thus have a natural distrust for the "Machine" and I'm not referring to the electronics ... I'd suggest that Vista will be a major step forward, just as "Dolly" was, in terms of sheep farming ...

Ironheart, You are confusing me.....
I can't tell if you believe that Vista is a tool of the "MAN" and therefore Evil or a leap forward for user friendliness towards humanity.
Ps: As I was thinking about this it came to my mind that I don't believe that I have heard anyone promoting the virtues of Vista that was not actively being financially compensated for it. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Ok, Devil's Advocate time......
I have Vista Home Premium on the new Dell laptop I got. I haven't had any problems with Vista.
Of course I haven't really pushed it for more than Shrubbing yet.......
I also have not been compensated my Microsquish in any way whatsoever......unless you count agrivation, stress, wasted time, dead ends or the reduction to hitting my desk and speaking curse words in languages that haven't been invented yet. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I am neutral toward it ... I am not favorable to Microsoft, perhaps because I do not receive pay nor own stock ... I think it's a damn shame that neither meditation nor quantum physics are introduced in grade school while Religion and Roman Law are subtly laced upon our youth ...
as for "EVIL", I don't subscribe any more, instead attributing such actions and the thoughts behind them, as the depths of mental illness which have become the cultural norm.
As regards VISTA, it is both a giant leap forward for technology and a devolutionary tool for society. There are both a renewed drive for advancement of hardware to support this beast and a secular control of the information channel for profit as a result; both an advancement in the accessibility by the masses and an increased dependency upon a sole source for that accessibility are likely to be realized.
The contradictions are only increased with more analysis. Personally, I won't go for a VISTA-based machine until the hardware quite exceeds the requirements. Unless, of course, TracFone forces me to accept a new cell-phone for free with a View of VISTA hard-wired (still running on an old
Nokia 1221).
I guess, in the end, I'm just bitching and moaning because I'm not the one making all the moola, but anything that is as heavily marketed as Microsoft products are raises my natural skepticism ... then again, I may just be as mad as a RedHatter. _________________ Klaatu... verata... n... I don't believe that Bill Gates will be hiring you for your endorsement skills any time soon.
How are you doing with drivers? and are you running the 32 or 64 bit version _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I wouldn't worry, the nice Mr Gates at Microsoft will take care of everything with his wonderful new Microsoft Geological Stabilization Program (Beta)... on the other hand... you'd better start worrying right away _________________ tilting windmills, rescuing damsels, etc |

I think I've made my position on Vista pretty clear (the word 'hate' comes to mind). I'm really excited about the new deal Dell struck with Ubuntu to preload Linux instead of Vista on a bunch of their systems. I'll be buying a new laptop from them soon and MS won't get a penny |
