It is a project that we do and we do well. It also uses very little cpu cycles and can be done at the same time as other Boinc projects. I just thought that if this was going to be used by new Knights to help them choose projects to run that this info might be helpful.

I know what it is, I'm #14 in our MJ12 team in fact (though inactive at the moment). That doesn't change the fact it's not a BOINC project hehe.
I guess that begs the question of whether or not I should just make a global DC list for KWSN. All of our projects, large and small, hither and yon. Thoughts?

So does that mean I should or shouldn't make this a DC list instead of just a BOINC list?

I don't know, I'm mostly a BOINC guy. I only know of Folding and MJ12, but I'm sure there's more. The Free-DC stats for our team probably list them all.

I don't know either. Mabey that is why we need an Itemized list of what the Knights do and what the projects do. ( in non-geek language if possible ). When I got sick of Seti I went to Einstein because it was the only project that I could understand enough to like. I have tried to read the projects home pages but that is like... well.... a waste of... hard to.... I just couldn't do it. _________________ a.k.a. That's an entirely different monster of a project. I'm not a scientist, I have no clue what half of these projects are doing. It's already a lot of work just listing the projects and trying to keep up to date on them. It'd be a lot easier if someone interested in each project would keep track of it and come up with the description like you mention but, frankly, we're not that organized. I mean really now, I can't even manage to get this thread stickied and you expect me to summarize the 30 odd projects KWSN is involved with?
Update: Worked on the list some. Changes listed at the bottom of the first post. Hope the database is setup for 32k character posts. We're at 12,837 characters including spaces hehe.

Well you know we have a couple hundred Knights and between them all we run ( I think ) every project. Although some people just run a project to get credit in them all, some have their favorite and have a reason for that. ( even if it is just to maximize credits ) Perhaps we could persuade some of the more "informed" Knights to give their reasons for choosing a project and try to explain "Who, What, When, Where & Why."
I don't know, This may be an unreasonable task.
Anyhoo..... Mabey I should just drop out of this thread as this is just complicating matters for you. All you wanted to do was make a list of certain factors and here I go butting in. Sorry. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Sounds like an interesting thread to start in the Round Table. Ask each knight to list their projects and why they shrub it.
Go for it Papa, it was your idea, you start it to get the credit for it! _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

This thread is perfect for the BOINC projects, maybe in either RT, or a new "KWSN Non-BOINC'ers" forum could be added, allowing people to talk about their crunching in things like Folding, etc. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I don't think anyone (myself included) would be able to stay on top of every project for very long before going looney(er).

I expected it to be a lot of work, and I keep adding more to it all on my own. Someone else adding things for me to do is cool, it means the list might actually be useful to someone other than me.

SAP is extending the project again. News on their site [Here]. I've updated the project list and verified that account creation has been re-enabled (by making my own account hehe). Lots of other updates today, check the bottom of the first post.
Anyone that participates in eOn, I could use some info on how account creation is done (in the application only?) and how to join a team. It appears the team stats on the page itself is PHP driven so I cannot provide a link to it. If anyone knows a way around that I'd appreciate the info. |

More like SAP does not want to fall off the face of the Earth, it still wants to be noticed.
