About time some Knights got some OGR work. I still can't get any, only RC5. OGR-26 is almost 30% complete.

Did you check your setup and make sure you are using the new client? There's no reason you shouldn't be getting any OGR work.

I did get three sets of RC5 last night as OGR was out of WUs to send out, but they are up and running again.

Make sure OGR-NG is the first project listed in your preferences.

And if you have an older client it may not support OGR-26.

I have the beta client on my PS3, it screams. Beats the quad hands down.

This is cool. I'm hoping to get a PS3 by the middle of next year.

I do have the most updated client and still get RC5 work. Oh well we can use the work there as well.

My mistake, I have just looked, and I have gotten some OGR26 work. Time to crack some nodes.

Is this being run through yo-yo? Are any special measures required to keep your PS3 from overheating?

I've just started running yo-yo, though now only as a backup to Milkyway.

This should be running through yo-yo it should be a choice under the project preferences.

you can run it through yoyo, but you get yoyo credits on boinc instead of on OGR. The PS3 client for yoyo is the one for OGR-25, it'll do OGR-26 but only using 1 of the 8 cell processors - quite slow. Haven't done anything special to cool the PS3, but when it's not summer it rarely gets over 70 in the house.

The offical OGR and RC5 stats have not been updated for a few days. I blame me getting my first OGR26 work.

OK, so there is a different, freestanding OGR project, that uses the PS3 more effectively?

Please forgive me if I seem so dense about this.

Not at all, I'm still learning this stuff too.

First, yes there is a seperate stand alone project at distributed.net. It does the OGR and the RC5 projects. The currently released program does not use the SPEs on the PS3, only one PPE, which is rather slow. So using the PS3 on yoyo is something of a waste, atm, as is using the non-beta from distributed.net.

The beta client at distributed.net uses all the cores on the PS3 and it screams along quite nicely.

Yoyo is a project that has no projects of it's own, it creates wrappers for other projects so they can be crunched using boinc, problem is rechenkraft (sp) gets the project credit and we get yoyo credits. For our vault score we want both. Our yoyo score is quite decent, and our OGR score is on the rise.

If you want your PS3 doing OGR when you get it, just holler. I don't know if i'm the only one using it on ogr, but anyone familiar with linux should be able to get you going quite easily. GPUGRID has instructions and links for installing yellowdog linux on the PS3, and if you stick to boinc, it gives significant credit (3000+ / day). Some other projects have PS3 clients but none apparently that use the SPE cores.

Hope this all makes sense

Pretty much, except who gets what credit with yo-yo. No problem.

If you run yoyo, you get boinc credits for yoyo, just like crunching anything else in boinc.

If I understand it right, Rechenkraft (they run yoyo) gets credit from the individual projects they have wrappers for (which allows them to be run on boinc).

There, clear as mud! #ni-1

If i'm wrong about this, someone who has been at it a bit longer, like Sir Grizzly, can correct me.

And now I'm off to work!
