How's eOn for resource usage? It sounds like it's CPU intensive?

JerWA, I'm no expert at that sort of thing but I haven't had any problems with it using too much juice at all.
My son uses my other computer since he killed his laptop, and he was pausing eon and folding so he can play his games, but he's only pausing them now if they slow things down too much.
I usually have eon running all the time on this computer that I use, along with boinc. It doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference on this one unless I'm trying to load videos etc.
Both of these computers are just the basic run-of-the-mill Acer desktops, not super-duper fancy things.
This one is a couple of years old and the other is probably about 4 years old now.

Woohoo! Da Grizz is in the house!!

Let's kick some Ninja butt!

eOn is too bad.. I'm running 4 instances on my dual core, each one using 3.2 MB of RAM. 2 per core is max though if you really want the most production.

Alright, alright - I'll look into eOn for a while this weekend, and put my 1.7 GHz Firewall system to non-Folding use for a while Smile

Especially now that I've regained mondo more PPD with the amazing new PS3 Folding client - my 1K PP there will soon be 1.3-1.7K by most estimates!

It's like free CPU time, without losing PPD - so eOn, here I come (for a while ...)

I'm getting the same thing on XP, it clears up when I stop using my PC. Try to NOT run the screen saver. I took that off and it seems to run better at times. I still get a lot of zzzzz's.

I've got XP on both of my machines and haven't had any trouble running eon at all, but I don't have it set as a screensaver.

From what I've been reading here about Vista it sounds like a big waste of time and money, especially if you want to shrub. When I sell the house, I'm thinking of (a)trying to get my son's laptop repaired (if it is worth doing) to get him off my other Acer or (b)picking up a reasonably priced desktop for him and dumping his laptop and (c) installing linux on my other Acer because I've never used linux and would like to have a crack at it, and I'm getting a bit peeved with the Microsoft monopoly on operating systems.

I to had problems with getting VISTA to work. With me it was folding and the smp client. I had to turn of user assist (I think, will double check when I get home. It's under user preferences), it's that nasty interveening enity that thinks it knows what you should be running.

After turning this off, it still reminds you your not running vista safely, but you can now run those apps you choose. Very Happy Albeit slightly slower than XP.

Hi Anti, I think I will just ley Billy Boy keep his Vista and I'll keep my money.

My PC person, told me that all the new PC's that his customers bought come first to his shop for him to remove Vista and put XP on. You can't buy a PC in town that doesn't have Vista on it.

It took me years to learn about 1/3 of XP, so I'll stay where I am.

Anti is in da house. Thanks, matey. You're a gem!

Even if we only delay the overtake for a little while, at least we'll know we've given it all we've got.

Here's the link for info and downloading of the client for any newbies who might be interested in giving it a go.

I have no idea what has happened, bt it's great to see so many people joining the Eon project.
I had sort of retired after we were passed by Francophone, but now I've put my modest computing resources back on. Smile

A big welcome to everyone! #ni-1

Well, I'm in. It took me a day and an aborted effort to join under my home address before I slapped it on my hotmail account. I had to email them today to get the password. They seem to get rejected by hotmail.... Rolling Eyes

It's all fixed now.

I joined both accounts to the team (mohrorless & mohrorless2).

Watch out people, here I come. Twisted Evil

Could someone tell me exactly what this project does? Confused
