Ok, so I'm enjoying my time back shrubbing but I'm still trawling the stats pages trying to get a feel for movement and how the numbers can be juggled. (Hey, I like the bragging yard and if I can claim to be highest production between 4 and 4:04 pm on the third Wednesday of the month I'm going to Smile ).
Anyway in my looking around Ive noticed first off that whomever NEZ is I want his computers and really don't want his power bill. Beyond that though can anyone tell me how this guy
http://www.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph.php?pr=bo&id=129059

On several occasions has dropped 30 million credits in a day and then regained them a day or two later? Ive heard some projects retroactively adjust credits but that seems a tad insane.

Happens when your CPIDs go out of synch. Every time you add a new machine you get a new CPID (from every project). They re-synch themselves over time (it only matters on BOINCStats), but sometimes it will add them, remove them, add them, etc. And since that's all of the credit a host has ever earned, it can lead to serious fluctuations. Part of it is that the matching/synching script isn't flawless. It tries to match as best it can, but there are lots of people (with common names, common emails, etc) that constantly fluctuate as it adds and removes machines from their stats lol.

Sweet, thanks for the info Smile

Means it will save asking when it happens to me in a couple of weeks when I add a new machine to the shrubbing farm Smile

The sole advantage of a long absence Sir Smurph, I don't feel bad asking what are probably dumb questions because Ive not been around the place since before seti classic closed.

The best way to avoid it, since I didn't mention it earlier, is to have one "master" machine that you add to every project. You don't have to leave it on every project, but any time you make a new account (like picking up a new project), have the "master" machine join that project too and let it run through a days worth of work (just let it finish it's initial download, then set it to not request work, and when it finishes what it downloaded set it to suspend the project).

This essentially forces a synch between all of your accounts by adding a known CPID to every project. BOINCStats will be able to play follow the cookie crumbs to identify your account from that one machine, and any other machines on that account will be tallied as part of your total (they will actually change their CPID to match the account).

Like I said, it's not really required (unless you do not use the same username/email accounts, then you may HAVE to do this for all of your stats to show on BOINCStats), but it speeds up the process.

The other easy way to avoid problems is to use BOINCStats BAM! (Account Manager).

This lets you set all your resource shares in one place (BOINCStats then updates the projects, although it doesn't work with WCG), then lets your BOINC know there's been an update.

And if you are lucky enough to add a new machine, cancel the initial "Attach to project" popup and attach to BAM instead. Then your new cruncher is automatically attached to all your projects and synchronised with BOINCStats, so no problems with CPID's, etc.

Boinc-stats works for me with WCG. Are you using the Boinc client version or the other one. Unless you use the Boinc client the Team will not get credit.....

I see you on the Team so you must be using the correct one. Perhaps you mean that the percentage allocation does not work correctly. I have noticed that myself. When I set it to WCG 10% some of my machines will download 3 days of work anyway. Sometimes they will only run WCG for weeks. Now I just set all at "No new Tasks" and I decide when to run it.

No, I meant that the BOINCStats BAM! won't communicate a change of resource to WCG - it's because WCG is essentially a pre-BOINC project, and can't handle updating resource remotely; the only way is directly in your "My Devices" tab.
