Have been away for quite a while and it seems to be very quiet around here (too quiet?).
I have brought several new CPUs online to push our F@H home points over the million mark. And with that milestone fast approaching I am wondering what to do next. It would seem that F@H has fallen out of vogue with the mighty Knights. Is there a reason? Better projects to do? Did Stanford foul? There isn't even any Cow abuse going on. How can that be?!? Anyhow, just looking for some future direction.

I actually crunch for F@H, I think it's quite an interesting project, I will continue to crunch if you don't mind... _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

I think we're WAY too far behind the despicable Kows to start any kind of taunting in Folding.
It's a little sad to see how far we have fallen in output, but the project has been going on for several years, and the Knights aren't exactly known for their focus.
If you want to get to the Kows, we're passing them in Pi-Segment in about 80 days. _________________

Well, as much as the British Dental Association answers to no one...For some odd (very odd) reason we also respect the opinion of the Flatuent One...
All that said, memos have been floated, forms filled in triplicate, a virgin sought, and a Kow slapped from horn to hoove. Long story short...expect the full brunt of the BDA's massive* shrubbing farm to begin the transition to Rosetta.
*Disclaimer: Due to recent budget cutbacks, the BDA's "massive shrubbing farm" consists of a couple old servers and a caffeinated monkey riding a bike hooked to a generator. But we have a lot of caffeine.

It appears that Sir Authur the Lemming will fit in nicely around these parts. Correction has already fit in nicely.
I do like the mental picture of the caffinated monkey on a bike attached to a generator.

Yup been asleep awhile. While I'm still shrubbing some for folding, and they have some interesting new clients. I have some issues with each.
The SMP client for Linux and Mac Os X are great for lots of points, but my laptop can fry an egg and unlike the BOINC client which will snooze on demand or while on battery this doesn't seem the case with folding.
The GPU client doesn't seem to get enough points on a fast machine to justify running with the stuttering graphics it causes. I do have a 256mb GPU and supposidly the 512mb version is more stable while being faster. Your milage may vary.
I'm currently split between SETI and Folding would like to concentrate on one project, preferibly a humanitarian one.
I would like to see if we could come up with a new worthy project or a team group project to inject some taunting fun ITS BEEN TOOOOO LONG without any Taunting. _________________ Check out our website

If you are looking for a humanitarian project might I suggest Rosetta? Cancer research is always good. The team is in 20 place right now (http://www.boincstats.com/stats/team_stats.php?pr=rosetta&st=0) but with some help we could climb beyond that. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Cancer you say!
Let's see, I've had Melenoma and my Wife Breast and Kidney cancer.
Maybe, I'll check it out tonight!
To switch from SETI, is it a matter of just changing to another project? or is there more involved? _________________ Check out our website

You don't have to stop running SETI if you don't want to. You can add Rosetta and run both if you like.
In the BOINC account manager go to the TOOLS menu select Attach to Project... from the dropdown. Click the Next button and past the following URL in the box:
Code: | http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |
Then follow the prompts (be sure to join the team ) and you are running it.
Follow these instructions and you can run lots of projects. Here is the page on the Seti site that has the links of what's available:http://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Just mentioning that I'll be sticking with Folding (and KWSN!) for a while. Lets hold off the minor teams who are getting ready to overtake our totals!
No one within range to catch ... but with a few more (re-)converts and powerful new shrubbery-crunching dual core PCs & PS3s ... you never know! _________________ Sig-What? |
