it's a Foxconn 5000v chipset mobo just used by dell in their sc1430 servers.......

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukbsdt1&kc=305&l=en&oc=SC021431&s=bsd&sbc=pedge_sc1430

they were doing a deal before xmas where it was the same price to buy two boxes with a single proc each and an empty slot than 1 box witrh 2 procs so I did that and swaped out the proc and ram into just one machine.....

http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=825279

so I now have a spare chassis, mobo, HDD and cdrom. All I need to do is buy two more procs this time quad cores.... some FB-DIMM RAM and, guttingly, some expensive proprietry heatsinks from Dell and voila!!!

what I've worked out with all this is that I've pretty much got the dual5120 for nothing...... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

There are other projects besides Einstein and other people besides yourself that could use the RAC boost.

it's probably better to buy one on the quads from dell --- £180 upgrade.......

it only has 4 dimm slots so beware if only buying the basic 512 mb of ram you might end up having to chuck it away if you want top put 4gb in there cheaply..........

here's a good site http://www.poweredgeforums.com for non dell support.....

I'll PM yuo the number for the company that supplies the heatsinks.... £45 plus vat & delivery....

Oh, and forgot to add this one, the mobo doesn't have a PCIe 16 slot so to add a 3D graphics card yo need one of a PCIe 16 to 8 lane converter like thee PEXP16-SX-16/8 card on this page.....

Uncle !!!

It took every server I have access to, just to get my daily number above 5000 for one day, and your doing it every day. I have a long, long way to go.

Taunting will begin at a later date, maybe 2008.
