... that I first downloaded BOINC and started on my quest for the Holy Shrub.
It took me 10 days to find and join KWSN, and it's transformed my life. Whereas I had been a fairly normal, well-balanced person, I'm now a quivering wreck of a stats-whore, slobbering over my keyboard at all hours of the day (and night). I was reasonably solvent, but now I collect shrubbers as fast as I can (helped by finally removing the yoke of a mortgage in the middle of last year), leaving me in permanent penury.
But despite (or perhaps because of) that.... I'M HAPPY
Thanks to all of you silly loonies (it's my post, so I'll spell it my way!) for the camaraderie and challenges of the past year; I'm looking forward to many more like it.

Happy and totally kicking my butt in the shrubbery race. I don't have a mortgage, but I do have student loans equal to one! If all goes to plan I should be gainfully employed and climbing my way out of debt before the year is done. Hence the plans to add at least a dual quad to the mix, solely to catch up to you. Unfortunately, by the time I have one, you'll probably have a quad quad. It will forever be a race, until I win the lotto and buy a BlueGene anyways. Haha.
Happy 1 year looniversary.

Congrats. I started shrubbing in 2000 when there was no BOINC. It took me a year to find the forum for KWSN and a additional three days to sign-up. It then took me about a month to turn in a Genome WU and the rest is history.

Same here, I started 3 years ago today, shrubbing SETI classic, then found these lovely kaniggits roughly a month later. The rest they say is history.
Went from a 533MHz P3 celeron, to a 64 3200+, then up to my current 64 X2 4200+ |

Why, thank you all for those kind thoughts. In celebration, may I present a new avatar.
It was also a landmark day for me - I achieved my first real (I'll ignore NanoHive) 1000 RAC in Malaria. And there's only Sir Robin between me and the Team Top 100, so no problem there, then.

Congratulations Al Dente. It will be next month that I will be celebrating a year with BOINC.
But it took me a a bit longer than 10 days to join KWSN. But who cares, so long as I get to be loonie like you

You s ky little kanigit you. Your bustin' my chops in malaria! I can't withstand much of an attack though. I only have my lone shrubber Camelot. It's not really up to par by todays standards for a serious threat in shrubbing as a stand alone anymore 
Maybe ina few months I can build my own with one of those fancy 80 core jobs. Poke with large stick now. OK, I woke up. Maybe a nice quad core.
