Hey, remember me? You never answered, and I'd love to help you get it set up, so just let me know hehe.
Here's the last post:

Which one? BOINCStats I'm guessing, but I could be wrong.
On BOINCStats you're: http://www.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph.php?pr=bo&id=354d2ad30018a74280e33a7a4ed81c55
But it's showing no activity in a long time. Either you're not BOINCing anything, or you need to sync your CPID so BOINCStats knows to show all the projects on the same page.
If you ARE running BOINC stuff right now, make sure your email matches that of your other projects, as that's the first thing it tries to match from. If it still doesn't work, you need to sync CPIDs which is kind've a PITA but I can get you through that if need be hehe.
If you want non-BOINC stuff to show up, you can setup an account with someone like Free-DC. My image probably isn't working yet (I never use it so I disabled creation, takes awhile to start updating again I guess) but the sig would look like this: (Link for if the image isn't loading still)
http://stats.free-dc.org/tag.php?name=JerWA
The colors are configurable, which projects/stats you show, how many stats, etc. If F@H is the only thing you're active on right now for instance, you could show a boincstats for historical reference but they don't show F@H. So, you could also (or instead) do a Free-DC sig with all the info.
And yes, I can help you set it all up and get it working in the forums. _________________

I'm sorry, I wasn't ignoring you, just didn't see your answer. I have a friend who is very sick so my small mind has been occupied.
Thanks for the tips, I will try and place it in my sig line now.
Thanks. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Like I said, if you do other non-BOINC projects, let me know and I can help you setup a Free-DC account. It is, as the name suggests, free. It's just a lot more involved than BOINCStats to set up hehe. I'm not afraid though. _________________

See it works, I may have to stop WCG cause it hogs all my CPU usage. I've looked for a couple of days to find the place where I only change it to use only 20%. I had to turn off Folding@Home and thats a no-no on my PC's. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Are you using the BOINC WCG or the grid software they have?
If BOINC, you can't throttle the cpu usage, but you can limit it to only one CPU. Some of the newer development BOINC are getting into percentages, but they are development versions. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

Actually that's not true. You CAN change how much resource WCG BOINC gets, but like most things it's not in the standard BOINC way. Here's how:
1. Go to the WCG home page, and log in:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org
2. Click on My Grid.
3. Click on Device Manager.
4. You should see your computer(s) listed, and their Profile probably says Default. Click on Default.
5. You will now be presented with a ton of options, including run times, Internet times, CPU usage, RAM usage, project selection (since WCG is made up of other projects), when to run, etc. Change them to suit your needs.
If you only have one computer doing WCG, you can set the new options as the default profile, and you're done (the next time your client talks to the project it will pull the new config, or you can just force an update). If you have more than one, you may want to create a different profile so you can have one for normal use and one limited to 20% for example.
Now, with all that said, I do not know if it actually works because I have not tested it. Give it a try before just giving up on WCG though, and let us know! _________________

Disclaimer: I never claimed to not be an idiot and my opinions should be taken in that context.
You know, I never did see that option and it's listed on all the project preferences. I'll be interested to see if it actually works. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

I have no need to reduce WCGs resource usage, as all my projects (except Maj12) are BOINC so they play nicely together. It's when you're combining a non-BOINC project that's CPU intense with BOINC projects that it becomes more important. _________________

It worked, thanks, now I'm running off to turn F@H back on. I also set it up to only run when this PC is idle, which it is most all day long and at night. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |
