So you're taking out your frustration at being stuck at # 2 on us ?
Come on you big weenie, take me up on my offer . Stop shrubbing, go back into MJ-12 retirement for 60 days until we catch up, and then it'll be a sprint to the "finish". Our teams are evenly matched. As it is now, we've no chance of ever catching you guys with you back in the game. Your team motto is "we like to have fun". Well, it can't be much fun racing a one-legged man in a footrace ?! Don't make me grovel, grovelling makes me gassy !!! |

Sir Jer of Washington,
Crunchies have a 400 million shrub lead on us . That's 66 freakin' days of shrubbing at our present rate assuming old butthead (pwrguru) doesn't add another shrubber or two, and assuming we can sustain our present rate. Something I doubt we can do as most, if not all, members of this team have the attention span of a gnat .
This Crunchy team can crank out 11 million shrubs per days when they want to: http://www.majestic12.co.uk/projects/dsearch/teaminfo.php?id=27, and he alone can hit 7 million per day http://www.majestic12.co.uk/projects/dsearch/userinfo.php?id=548 . These guys can halt our advance anytime they want, or specifically old butthead can, all by himself .
We face great odds, and what does this team do whenever it's faced with a monumental challenge ?!
WE RUN AWAY !!!
Once again Old Farty's got us into a battle with impossible odds . And do you know who's fault that is ? IT'S YOURS ! You all know I need constant supervision or else I'll wander the net and get us into trouble . But noooooo, budget cuts dictated you fire my handler and now look where we're at . I recommend we confuse and confound the enemy and conduct a full-scale rearward charge !
Man the cowtapults !!! We retreat at dawn !

I vote we launch cows at guru's ISP instead. Why take on just one insurmountable foe when we could take on their entire army! _________________

Remember complete 1, 2, 3, instructions so I can get it on and running. TIA _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

1) Download the app
2) Install it.
3) Run it if it doesn't run itself.
4) You will get an Options page. Put in your email, nickname, password, country, etc. You will also (I forget now) be asked about your connection.
5) Click Register. It should say success and start running.
6) Join the KWSN team
7) In the Options, go to the Connection tab. If you don't know your connections limits, test it. Then set your Downstream to whatever you want it to be.
For instance, if the test says your connection can do 1,024 kbps down and you didn't care if MJ12 maxed it out, you'd put 1024 for Downstream and then 100% on the slider next to it. If you're concerned about limitations from your ISP, being able to still use the 'net, etc, then set it no higher than 80%.
And if you need any more help, feel free to ask.

Is it asking for that? What information does it want? I don't see any options related to that in mine, and I think it's when you're administering a machine elsewhere? _________________

Yes, I have a pop up box that says this:
Hostname
Username Password
Update Frequency
Information
Local Idle Time
Remote Profile.
I don't see anything that says Options anywhere.
I get this error "The Underlying connection was closed. The remote name could not be resolved."
What do I put in for "node"? _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

I un-installed it as I couldn't get any help filling in the pages of info they needed. Their web site is totally useless. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

If you want, I can get on IRC after work and try to help you get it running.
Perhaps it is easier when you can get immediate feedback?
Try #kwsn on EFNet some time after 16:00 GMT. _________________

Since I've begged for info of where to go to download IRC and what to put in fields for IRC and haven't gotten any replys, I can't go there. Also I need time in EST, I am not savey on GMT. Mildew huny, did you ferget I'm a old woman? If not I am reminding you now.
I have to run into the office today and won't be around until laterthis evening.
JerWA tried to help me, but I think MJ12's web site needs to be a little better with their help.

I just thought most people knew what time zone they are in
EST is GMT-5, i.e. 16:00 GMT would translate to eleven o'clock in the morning EST.
Evening in EST means bedtime for Mildew, so never mind then.
A Node in the MJ12 context is the same as an instance of the client running on a computer, so by running a node they simply mean running the client.
You can get MIRC from http://www.mirc.com/get.html (that's what I run).
They have a pretty good install guide at http://www.mirc.com/install.html.
If you manage to install it, connect to any EFNet server and type "/join #setiathome" and I think you'll see some familiar names _________________

Sorry I couldn't help more, but I'm new to MJ12 as well (only been running it a few days). I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get it to max out my connection.
I'm also still working on getting onto IRC. I dislike having to open a port for ident, but such is life. Mainly I dislike opening a port because my router is broken and I have to flash the firmware to fix it to let me work with ports again.
Update (before I even posted it haha): Ok, flashed, fixed, and online. Anyone else awake at 5am? _________________

Maybe I should have clarified, and said still awake. It's now 8am, and I'm just about to go pass out. Have a head cold, and I tend to feel better the longer I'm awake, and the worst when I first get up (when I often can barely breath, etc). Soooo, I stayed up as long as I could.
FWIW, I got IRC working, and BoincView too. BV is really cool hehe. _________________

You always manage to get the strangest errors!
I have no idea what this means. Could it be the Winblows firewall? _________________
