				| Three Corrections Officers Injured At Jessup Prison
JESSUP, Md. - Three correctional officers were stabbed Friday morning by an inmate at the maximum-security Jessup Correctional Institution. None of the officers was seriously injured, state prison system officials said. The officers, who were stabbed in the face, neck and hands, were treated at a hospital and released, said Maj. Priscilla Doggett, a spokeswoman for the Division of Correction. Doggett could not say which officers suffered which injuries.

It was also unclear Friday afternoon exactly what kind of weapon the 29-year-old inmate, who is serving a life sentence for murder and weapons offenses, used in the attack, Doggett said.

The assault occurred shortly after 10 a.m. as the inmate was leaving a recreation room. The inmate jumped one officer, and the other two were stabbed after they rushed to the officer's aid, Doggett said.

Additional officers "responded immediately to take control of the situation and subdue the inmate," she said. The prison was placed on lockdown after the attack.

The Jessup Correctional Institution was known as the Maryland House of Correction Annex before it was renamed this year. It houses about 1,230 inmates, a majority of them violent offenders serving life sentences, said Mark Vernarelli, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

In July, correctional officer David McGuinn was fatally stabbed at the adjacent prison, the Maryland House of Correction. Officer Jeffery Wroten was shot to death in January while guarding an inmate from the Hagerstown prison at a hospital.

Division of Correction Commissioner Frank Sizer resigned this year amid widespread criticism of persistent violence in Maryland prisons. He was replaced by John Rowley. Public Safety Secretary Mary Ann Saar will retire in January when Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich leaves office. ( Thank GOD that he Lost)

I don't think that a new governor is going to make the prisioners suddenly play nice.

				| It was the morons that he appointed. Ex Restart program is a good idea if it was use in juvenile services and the county detention centers, you do not offer it to a person that has been convicted on two or three felonies. That person is not going to change. I have seen this from first hand experience. I have worked inside the prisons that I can now retire with twenty three service. Men’s medium, women’s maximum, men's and women pre-release centers, and men's max.
