Police: Fake Lawyer Seeking Sex Also Posed As P.I.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Authorities said a woman accused of stealing the identity of a lawyer to have sex with an inmate at the jail tried to pass herself off as a private investigator before showing up as a fake lawyer.

Police said Tiffany Weaver, 29, was arrested in November after having sex with a Baltimore City inmate. They said she posed as Amanda Sprehn, an Annapolis lawyer, and tried to have sexual intercourse with inmate Jason Moody.

Officials now say that Weaver also tried to pose as a private investigator by the name of Sharon Weidenfeld to gain access to inmates in Jessup.

"They showed me a letter that said I was banned from the prison because I came up there,” Weidenfeld said. “(They) said I was a private investigator and tried to show the identification of a lawyer to get into the prison, which makes no sense."

WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Mindy Mizell said Weaver was able to try to pass herself off for a private investigator by using one of Weidenfeld’s business cards showing her name, title and cell phone number.

"I guess it can happen to anybody,” Weidenfeld said. “Business cards are out there and if somebody wants to do something, there's probably no stopping them."
