Yesterday my baby girl made me prouder than any time in her life. She went to her first gymnastics competition. The medals were not the important thing. Her truely doing her best was what was important. And she rose to the occassion.
I was a little worried on Friday night. She freaked out on me during open gym. She saw all the chairs for the competition and freaked out. I believe I did the smartest thing. I helped her get her clothes picked up and sent her to her coaches. I knew she would milk it for all it was worth if she stayed with me. I had faith in the coaches to help her focus on whatever she needed to focus on.
The next day, she did us proud. It was the best performance that I had ever seen her do. When she was done, she did not focus on the score. She focused on us and what we thought. She knows that I will not lie to her. I honestly could say that she had done her routines better than any time I saw her during practice. With those words, her face shined brighter than the sun. Her beautiful eyes glowing. She gave me the biggest hug she has ever given to me. The day was successful.
Oh and to let you know how she did place (granted it is relative to how many people were in each event):
Trampoline (her first event ever and her weakest performance of the day in my humble opinion) - 2nd place.
Tumbling (she got zeroes on her first pass routine because she could not do a round off backhand spring. She could only do a round off. But 2nd pass routine was excellent. Best I had ever seen her do. She really focused and was tight) - 6th place
Double mini (which was her best event of the day and normally worst in practice. In her first pass routine she messed up in the end with the front tuck. After she fell, she got right back up. I was so proud. Her 2nd pass routine was outstanding. Best I had seen her do.) - 1st place
I am just so proud of my baby girl. She had a lot of fun at the competition. And isn't that what counts? _________________ |----Ni---Ni----|

Nice to hear, Lady
I'd put a few of alphas mushy smileys in, but you know I got to think about my rep. _________________

Yes, she trains three times a week.
Monday - 2 1/2 hours
Wednesday - 2 1/2 hours
Saturday - 4 hours
And those hours are for Junior team. Imagine the hours that the Senior team has to put in. She has another competition in January. That one is in Knoxville. _________________ |----Ni---Ni----|
