On behalf of Lee, myself, and the entire RS community, I'd like to apologize for the server issues we've had over the last three days. It has definitely seemed like every time we solved one problem, three more crept up.

As of 22:00 UTC this evening, everything was turned back on and caught up. The backlog of WU returned was validated and processed with no issue by our new, time-set, php-based validator.

To recap what happened, a series of cascading server problems (both communication and load) ground things to a halt Monday night into Tuesday. On Tuesday, things ran but jammed up quickly - to counter the load, we turned off file uploads. This worked into Wednesday, when we reversed the system and turned off the scheduler but turned on file uploads. This process remained until 22:00 UTC today, where everything was turned back on.

We thank everyone for their patience and support. We're confident that the strict limits we've placed into apache, combined with the load-based restrictors in the PerlBOINC software we've improved on, will carry us up to the changeover to the new server. Thanks again for helping out Riesel Sieve.
