We have recently put together a higher-resolution atmospheric model for a Seasonal Attribution Project, supported by WWF International. The project helps us to understand the extent to which extreme weather events occurring on seasonal timescales, like the UK floods of Autumn 2000 and Spring snow-melt decline in the NorthWest US, are attributable to human-induced climate change.
Simulations typically take only 3-4 weeks to complete - so those of you who have recently completed a simulation for the BBC climate change experiment (many congratulations!), may like to tackle this less demanding project for a while. We particulalry encourage prospective participants who have a 'higher spec' machine, as simulations require a recommended 1GB of memory - though you get to see some cool high-resolution graphics for the climate model, courtesy of Tolu.
If, however, you are still running the BBC experiment (or any other), then PLEASE allow this to finish before starting your Seasonal Attribution simulation.
