New SIMAP client v5.08 coming: In order to avoid CPU specific rounding differences as seen with the v5.07 we have modified the SIMAP client instead of the validator (as announced below). It was possible to replace the trouble causing floating point operations by integer ops. The recent tests confirmed that the results of Windows-, Linux- and MacOS-clients are now identical. Tests on UNIX will follow. The new client version v5.08 will be released during the next week, depending on the results of our last in-house tests and some recent bug fixes. A first internal improvement inspired by the low level SIMAP client optimization by akosf has been implemented, but more are planned for v5.09. Good news also for several platforms/CPUs: MacOS 10.3.9 will be supported by the new MacOS client and we will compile Linux and Windows clients that will run on older CPUs like AMD K6 (using the anonymous platform like UNIX clients). The validator update will be synchronized with the new client release, so starting at this time the validator will accept for 10 days both 5.07 (from all platforms even with rounding differences) and 5.08 results, after this time only results calculated by v5.08 will be valid.
