That'll put some hair on your chest. I guess that explains "Furry".
Perhaps we should start a whisky/whiskey thread. _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

My mother is Austrian/Irish (My Mom's father's name was McAsey, from Pennsylvania I think, she never knew him but he died an alcoholic. Mom's mother's maiden name was Bullock, but I think it was originally Dushenko, or it was the other way around. Her father was from Vienna.)
Father is Sicilian/German, (Sicilian grandmother and grandfather came over in 1896, I know all about them as they are the only relatives I ever knew! Yes, I knew my Great-Grandmother who turned 100 years old in 1968! Lots of stories there. My dad's mom was German, family came to US in late 1700's and settled in New York. Last name was Falter.)
I'm going to need a hot toddy tonight! Have terrible sore throat, from post-nasal drip I think. shot booze, 1 tbl honey, 1 tbl lemon. sip and sleep. _________________ Confucious say, "Man who lay girl on hill, not on level"

Only stuff resembling whiskey i've ever had was Crown Royal, Southern Comfort (drank myself sober with that stuff) and Drambuie, witch i don't think is a whiskey at all. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |

I've never had one of those and I caught a cold this weekend, so I made one. Dunno if it'll help the cold, but it's tasty _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

Well done Lady Klaatu,
We've been watching pictures of the snow in Boston on the BBC News website. Everything stops here when we get snow (about once every five years).
And congratulate the young one from me. She already excels in the knightly ways.

I wish I was a penguin drinking Yeungling Traditional Lager.
A fine brew by America's oldest brewery in PotsVille PA.
Although a nip or two of a single malt scotch will do in a pinch.
Good stuff that.. |

Oooh, the toddy does taste good, and anyone can hi-jack this thread all they want!
I live East of Boston on the old Cape of Cod, and we're under a winter storm watch tonight, so even though I've got a cold, I've also got two bottles of red wine, (A red bourdeaux, Chateau Clos De La Tour, and a Spanish Gotim Bru from Castell del Remei). I think I'll call the hubby and have him pick up a pint of something tasty for more toddies.
In preparation I made a pot of marinara sauce, a roast chicken and a seafood stew, (red not white), with cod, shrimp and clams. So, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.... _________________ Confucious say, "Man who lay girl on hill, not on level"

It sounds like you had a real banquet.
Today was nice and sunny here, 6 degrees (C). A bit like summer really. Well it does get a little warmer in the summer (maybe 16 ? ). But no wind so that makes it feel warmer.
That's why we need lots of whiskey!

Ah, the snow storm was a big dud! How disappointing! They never get it right. They'll say no snow, and we'll get 3 feet, then they'll say 10" and we're lucky to get 1.
It's already melting away, and the storm's only stopped an hour ago.
Phooey.
And we didn't eat all that food at one time. I just cooked alot so I wouldn't have to. We're going to eat that for the next 2 or 3 days. _________________ Confucious say, "Man who lay girl on hill, not on level"

So you live on the Cape. We vacation there every summer in Dennisport. I absolutely love the Swan River Seafood restaurant on Lower County Rd. The best lobster and fresh haddock on the earth. I fly my stunt kites on the town beach in the Kite flying area. Lots of fun. WHat a great place to live. |

A good and knightly friend of mine comes from West Falmouth, where his parents still live. We sail from West Falmouth at least once every summer to various points in the Elizabeths, the Vineyard (I LOVE Edgartown), and (hopefully soon) Nantucket.
He's the Irishman. There is generally much consumption. And sometimes jousting!
Your stew sounds delicious, fairest Lady K! Might there be any left? _________________ Sir Richard Biggerstaff

fish stew gone, but I made some beef stew tonight... We like to go to Race Point in P-towne in the summer, then eat in town. Ciro's and Sal's has gotten good again. It's a great Italian restaurant and has been around for ages. It was crap for a while, but new management's turned it around. At the end of last summer we got a permit for a bonfire, (as it is part of the National Seashore), and had an incredible night with some friends of ours and their 3 children. One friend and I were the only ones who had ever been to a bonfire before, so it was one of those memory making evenings. The stars were incredible, the weather perfect, and I got to give 6 people the first roasted marshmallows they had ever had in their lives.
We also go to the Wellfleet Drive-In every summer 2 or 3 times. Nothing but fun, and they've got the old films from the 50's about going to the snackbar with the dancing hotdogs and ice-cream...
My husband and I got married at Craigville beach in Hyannisport, we really wanted to go to Long Beach a bit of a walk down, but it was February and freezing so we did it at Craigville. That was in 1999. Our daughter was two.
I liked Nantucket 20 years ago, now it's too crowded, too many cars, and the little cool shops have been replaced with Gaps and stuff.
I haven't been to the Vineyard in about 10 years. I like to visit in March when no one's there.
That's why I live on the Cape. For 3 months in summer it's crazy because the weather is incredible and it's gorgeous here. I'm so glad we have weather because for the other 9 months we only have to deal with the nutty locals. _________________ Confucious say, "Man who lay girl on hill, not on level"

I ate at Ciro and Sal's the opening year and for many years after. The original owner was a portrait artist that did color chalk portraits on Commercial street in P-Towne. My mom still has them from the 1970's in in her living room.
We also made friends with the owner of the saltwater taffy shop just off MacMillan wharf and Comercial street. Watching the taffy pulling machine when I was young was so much fun. Deep Sea fishing on the Dolphin 2 & 3 (now replaced with whale watches)
Later on in life having a blast at the "Top 'o the Pot" bar also on Commercial street.
Wow so many good memories!
Camping at the North Truro Camping area.
Seeing JAWS at the Welfleet Drive-in the summer it was released.
Swimming at LongNook beach.
Getting a permit to go oyster digging in Wellfleet (Wellfleet oysters are considered to be some of the best in the world)
Sunsets at Race Point beach and Herring Cove beach.
Visiting the Cape Code Lighthouse on the cliffs near the North Truro Air Force (Norad) station.
Playing golf at the highland golf course (The oldest course in the United States)
Listening to lectures from the National Seashore staff in North Truro about the old shipwrecks along the shoals. (These were at an outdoor pavillian and took place after dark)
Wattching the first moon walk at the camping area on a little 13" black and white TV with about 100 other campers.
Man I could go on and on. The Cape is one very special place. |
