For those of you interested, check it out here.
If you want to try this and remain anon, then when you configure the client just add KWSN as your username.
I tryed adding mine as KWSN_Dagger, but it doesn't like the underscore. _________________ When in doubt, kick it until it works. |

Here's a lightly tested "install guide" that I made.
How I installed SeventeenOrBust:
1. Go here http://www.seventeenorbust.com and select sign up.
2. Enter your user name with no more than 12 alpha numeric characters only. (no underscores) Be sure to select The Knight Who Say Ni! as your team!
3. Download the program and install locally.
4. Run the program and when prompted do NOT add new user.
5. Choose the Config button and replace the name 'anonymous' in the user field with the same exact user name your used when you signed up on the web page.
For each additional machine:
1. Download the program and install locally.
2. Run the program and when prompted do NOT add new user.
3. Choose the Config button and replace the name 'anonymous' in the user field with the same exact user name your used when you signed up on the web page.
4. Ignore the team field because it's not controlled within the program. Team point credit is controlled on the web page.
That seems to be working too... _________________ "There ain't no freekin' Indians around here..."

A common problem that occurs with SoB, particularly if you close it unexpectedly (e.g. if your system crashes), is that your current test gets "lost" and your SoB client goes and fetches a new test.
As you will (eventually) lose all credit for a unit you haven't finished, you should attempt to recover it.
Details on how to do this can be found here:
Fix for lost Proth Test
Note also that this project only supports multi-processors/hyper-processors when installed as a service (see the ReadMeNT.txt file in the SB installation directory). Running multiple copies of the interactive SoB client at the same time usually leads to horrible conflicts and loss of one or more of the assigned tests (been there, done that...)

It seems to run fine with Folding on my machine at least.

I just added this to machine number two. Maybe this will help our stats some.
Do you all realize I did something quickly without thinking about it? I never do that. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

A couple more comments about SeventeenOrBust:
1) Only transmit the intermediate results if you want your stats to update frequently and your internet connection is "Always On".
Otherwise just let each test upload when complete (this will actually let the test run a little bit faster as well - you don't waste a couple of seconds uploading each intermediate result)
2) If you fail to complete a test, any intermediate credit you received for it will eventually be taken off you (when the test gets re-issued and completed by another user). If you are intending to uninstall SoB, but want to keep the test credit score, set the client to exit w/o a new test when the test is complete. When the client eventually closes down you are safe to uninstall.

Both my PC's are "always connected", so I will just let it do its thingy. That is unless you think I need to change something. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

I seem to be rising in the stats as well. Has any completed all there blocks yet?
I still have about 458 to go; Majestic-12 does not play nice with SoB.

I've had zero problems with that combination on 2 machines.

What I noticed is that it took a lot longer to complete a block on SoB when Majestic-12 was running at the same time.

My machines are running fine with SOB, but if I try to look around at different web pages, sssssssslllllllllllloooooooooooowwwwwwwwww. I don't like ssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwww.
Do I need to change and make it download all at once at the end or let it continue to download as it works the blocks?
(wait until Mr alpha finds out how slow it is. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Not entirely sure why SOB should slow down your web browsing (even with intermediate blocks transmitted it should only access the internet once every few minutes, and only then for a split second).
If you pause SOB does the browsing get faster again?
(Press the "Stop" button in the SOB Client window)
If so, does it go slow again when you press the "Start!" button?
In any case, it is usually best to set SOB to only download the result at the end - bring up the client windows, click the "Config" button and make sure that "Transmit intermediate blocks" is not ticked - if it is then uncheck it and press the "Save" button. _________________ (Sir Furry - Occasional member of the Migratory Coconuts)

Yes, when I click the stop button it speeds up, then when I press start it does slow back down. My scrabble game took over an hour to play one hand. LOL
You have to remember I am hanging off the side of a mountain and the satellite dish is way down front, so what we are working here, just to get internet service, is a chore. _________________ Don't fuss about growing older, many are denied the chance. |

Both my PC's are plugging away with SOB, can someone who knows about this program check and see if I am doing anything and if it is turning in work. TIA
My folding seems to have slowed down to a trickle, yesterday I had one that was ready to finish in 2 hours and now it says 2 days, is this suposed to happen?
