To the editor of Elle magazine:

Dear Sir/Madam/It,

I write to express a deep concern at a matter that has been brought to my attention on an interweb-thingy-message-board-dofunny. There is a heated discussion relating to the origin and validity of the word "loon" and all it's related forms. From what I can gather, it would appear that the word loon only relates in some way to the currency of the country of Canadialand.

This causes me a huge fashion-crisis.

If this is the case... what becomes of my huge collection of loon-pants? Should I be calling them something else, or am I in fact, walking around in the processed currency of and ex-colonial nation? (and if so would this fact also negate my membership of Amnesty International and the Wringing-my-hands-apologists-for-Empire Society?)

Yours faithfully (and indeed #ni-1 ),

Concerned of Tunbridge Wells

It's painfully obvious that The Gorge of Eternal Peril Forum has become rather dead lately - what with all the threads that are being ignored, imaginary threads, unfailing to not ignore threads, and even completely empty threads, hardly anyone posts here at all anymore! By requiring every Knight to post DAILY in this thread, we shall regain Ye Olde Mojo the forum had in The Times of Yore. Do try to keep it silly.

And given that I have not posted AT ALL before my post above in this thread... I take on my duty to make suitable amends...

This is an utterly pointless post... merely designed to fulfil my obligation of a daily post...

This post reduces my deficit to 4.

Admirable, I'm sure you'll all agree...

Dear Sir Ogster,

I attempted to research these Loon-pants you mentioned, but all I could find was this rather unexpected product - Pants-in-a-spray-bottle???

What? you posted the link to the dictionary that PROVES there is no plural; if there were one it would be listed, just like "loonies" is listed for as the plural for "looney"

Americans don't call a Canada dollar a "loonie", they call it a "Canadian dollar", plural "Canadian dollars" We can own more than one, Canadians can't, be cause we have the words for it and they don't. Simple, eh?

And I'm sorry if my mind is not made up. I was just sleeping in it and hadn't put the grey matter back in place before I got dressed.

Oh my GOD! Those are wonderful... exactly the answer I have been looking for to solve my clean boxer-short deficit...

Although... I have to wonder... exactly how roomy are the fresh pants? My brain just went <TILT> when I considered the likelihood of them being skin-tight...

Totally Useless Looney laws.

Some examples from the Cheese Quadrant.

Wisconsin

In St. Croix, women are not allowed to wear anything red in public.
It is illegal to cut a woman's hair.
It is illegal to kiss on a train.
Cheese making requires a cheese maker's license; Limburger cheese making requires a master cheese maker's license.

The Police are busy on a case searching for The Stranglers, who to date have protested innocence on the basis that they were only The Pretenders...

The newspapers reported The Clash between The Police and The Stranglers. Unfortunately The Cult that was investigated did not believe The Cure involved attending The Church.
