I thought I had BOINC up and running well (fine for the past few weeks), but now I get a "Connection Failed" message when I try to start it up. I'll provide more details as soon as I have a chance to figure out what they are ...

I had Steve's PC running Seti@home and BOINC, it worked for a few days and then never did anything again. So now we stick with what we know/not know F@H.

Fold diapers
Fold towels
Fold shirts
Fold table cloths
Fold chairs
F@H does it all at once.

Well, now it tells me it's "Disconnected", and I can't reconnect with any project. This all started when some recent "server changes" were put in place. Darn it all, I might have to go ASK! Confused

Typical male thing, "don't ask for help, directions, which way and most of all don't ask permission".

Are you lost? Call me I will help. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Seeing "disconnected" in the GUI means that the GUI couldn't connect to the actual BOINC process running in the background. It has nothing to do with the project servers. Try going to the BOINC directory and running the "boinc.exe" file and then the "boincmgr.exe". The first is the background process, the second is just the GUI. If this works then it seems that the manager GUI is failing so start up the background process correctly. If this doesn't work... how about firewalls? The GUI connects to the background process via a network socket. Software firewalls can get in the way. A lot of people started having this problem when they installed XP SP2 and the windows firewall came on by default suddenly.

BINGO! Smile

OK, now at least it's running. I can live with the minimized window for a while until I have time to figure out why it isn't starting in the first place.
