According to here, a lot of KWSN members are slacking in their DIMES shrubs! What is up with that? Just look at all those 0s in the "yesterday" column!
Just thought I would stir the pot and see what comes out! What's up, knights?

Yes, I saw you mentioning that. But at least you are still producing. I was trying to poke all the zeros. When my measly 2 hosts make me the #5 cruncher on the team, something is wrong!

I thought I was #5 with my 2 hosts
Does it help if they have measles? Do the spots give you extra points??

Okay, what's the scoop on the Dimes client? If I install it on several machines, but use the same agent name on all of them, will I get a lot of credit for one account, or will their stats server blow up and delete all of my credit? I did install in on 4 computers yesterday, and my stats went from 30000 to 49000 in one day, but now it is holding steady with no increase. Did I blow up their server? _________________ One who takes snippets of reality and weaves them into his own imaginary world. |

Seems to be a stats server issue - my (2) clients are running okay and returning data, but the stats data hasn't changed for about 12 hours.
I think you are supposed to have different names for each agent - I seem to recall from the Dimes forums that something horrible happens if you don't...

There were many problems when running multiple instances of one client/agent on a single machine but I couldn't find anything on the forum in regards to running a duplicate of one client/agent on multiple machines.
Judging by your increased output MK (almost 10 times higher!) I'd say your setup is working.

In case some of you were wondering (probably NOT) why my DIMES production is way down, please read the following thread from the Netdimes forum.

Understandable, liked your rant but also the main reason I backed off, code can cause some unusual issues, like mine, overloading a dns server, and causing a flakey router to do some really weird stuff, along with raising bandwidth usage by 10% for just 6 machines. _________________ Smoke-em if you got-em I do.. |

Hitting "OK" and "Yes" on 30 machines was no fun but having to re-access them again to reset the defaults was a big pain.
I don't know what I would do with a 100+ machines.
So what ya gonna do Sir Cad? _________________ "There ain't no freekin' Indians around here..."

What am I gonna do?
Say "The Hell with it" because I leave on vacation this afternoon for a week.
I'm going to the land that grows "Cohibas".
So it's going to be 7 days of Sun, Sand, Cervezas and Stogies. _________________ KWSN Sir CADCAM of the Wooden Rabbit

FYI:
I've been out of the running for dimes since a few days.
My provider again thought that the upload was over the top, and put me on narrowband (this is the second time this happens since i've started crunching Dimes) .
Anyway, my account is down to 97 % of the allowed bandwidth today, so they reinstated the broadband. I'll leave it down one more day for good measure and fire up the production again tomorrow...

I pulled the plug on Dimes.
I got three notices of suspicious activity from 2 different ISP's that I work with.
One of the ISP’s shut down internet access till the “issue” was resolved.
Dimes was their issue.

Interesting. Wonder what fired off their alarm. I blame all the political BS going on regarding "computer crimes" these days. You can't even port scan someone anymore without the feds showing up at your front door. *sigh* There is absolutely nothing malicious about DIMES traffic but the fact that you are sending out small packets to so many different hosts evidently raises some kind of flag. Or I suppose it might be the reverse DNS lookups... Oh well. Thanks for trying
Maybe if you say to your ISPs repeatedly... |

Amen to that.
That's the problem... paranoia runs amok.
Somebody somewhere reported the ping....a malicious ping???
It's a PING!
