I know this subject comes up from time to time, but it's been a while. It looks like Firedaemon is no longer offering the free version it once did, and I haven't been able to determine if the Pro version will simply revert to Basic after 30 days, or if it will completely shut down. What other service managers do people use? Obviously, the console will self-install now, but then you can't run flags (especially -advmethods) without editing the registry.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

From the 4.00 release notes:
- Console: Built in service installation support through Configuration, to
have the program automatically begin at machine startup. If one wishes, the
service can be further configured and interacted with through the Services
tool (GUI) that can be accessed through the Windows Settings (under
Administrative Tools in 2000/NT). The Sc command line tool may also be used.
There are known issues with the Net tool.
Somehow I got -advmethods set in XP but don't remember how. I pressed my "clear" button the other day. _________________ now, where was I??? |

Well, I was able to insert flags with the Management console, but only until restarting. I was able to find an older copy of Firedaemon, so I'm all set. Thanks!
