My guess is that a pop-up window was somehow re-routed to the log. I would run some known safe spyware removal tools, just in case.
I recommend:
SbyBot S&D and (www.safer-networking.org)
AdAware (www.lavasoftusa.com) _________________ I am S aliigi min en lacerto, a proud member of the Migratory Coconuts.

They're coming to abduct you! It seems they managed to locate you through your dail-up adapter, and they are going to take you to a destination called SRC. Whatever that is. _________________ Save the rainforest! Eat more woodpeckers! |

How is your hard drive doing?? Any computer crashes??
Looks almost like a FAT table screwup, where some bits of a temporary file got mixed in the log. Reduce your FSB overclock a bit, if you are overclocked there. _________________ 0.0 Giggly hertzes Folding!

I agree with Sir Newt... you have spyware on your computer and it somehow routed a popup into the log... probably as a resault of the log being created when you connected to the net... do you get similar popups when you are online?
In addition to Sir Newts recommendation I would also HIGHLY recommend Pest Patrol which I consider to be a better product than SpyBot S&D... though it isn't free... it found hundreds more cookies and programs on my computer than SpyBot found

I did not mean to imply that you have spyware.
It looks like one of those "trick you" ads. I suspect that it somehow got passed to the log as it was being written as opposed to going to the scerrn where it was destined.
You may or may not have any spyware. But it would be a good time to check.

Are you on a dial-up service?
This looks like a modem traffic log with sections of SPAM e-mail embedded.
The usual ways that you get random sections of garbage in your Folding log have already been mentioned in this thread:
1) Unexpected system crash (e.g. power fail) on a machine with a FAT file system. Folding keeps the log file open, so doesn't flush the data to the physical disk. Since the file space has been allocated, after the crash you can see the (random) contents of the disk where the folding log data would have been written if it ever got flushed.
2) FAT file system is corrupt - run a full Scandisk to eliminate this possibility.
3) Something is overwriting file system buffers - can be caused by overclocking, bad RAM or even a rogue virus.

Ahhhh.... but many of those "trick you" ads are put up by spyware to begin with... I rarely, if ever, see those "trick you" ads now that I have cleaned my system... however, I agree it's possible (although I consider it highly unlikely) that he does not have spyware _________________ Sir Latch of the Highlands

I already run ad-aware SE, Spy bot search & destroy, Spyware Blaster, Stinger, norton anti-Virus & CWShreader, Norton shows no problem with the hard drives.
There is a dial up adapter, but I use ADSL and there is no modem installed.
I do get quite frequent internet crashes using MSN Premium
The problem below wont go away, but following the advice from the site http://www.greymagic.com/security/advisories/gm001-ie/ I have changed the registry vale to "3" and this has cured the problem.
DSO Exploit: Data source object exploit (Registry change, nothing done)
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0\1004!=W=3 |

Just for thoroughness go here and click on the "Scan and Reviews" tab for the Free Spyware Scan or on second thought just click here... it's free... won't fix anything but it will let you know if those other products are doing an effective job... _________________ Sir Latch of the Highlands

Glad I could offer some assistance
While I agree that the freebies are quite effective (and free no less), I have been quite impressed by Pest Patrol and its ability to find additional (sometimes loads of em) pests!
FYI, if you have not already done so, might I humbly suggest that you enable automatic scanning on boot... to do so: 1) Open Pest Patrol 2) Select the "Options" tab 3) Select the "Automatic Scans" tab 4) Put a check in the "Scan on Boot" option 5) Type '/hard /nopause /nosound /delete' (without the qutoes) in the "Use This Command Line:" box. Each time you reboot it will then automatically scan for new pests (invisibly) and, when finished, will open a log file in notepad (or wordpad or one of those) so you can see what, if anything, it found. _________________ Sir Latch of the Highlands
