p.s We don't 'root' for our favourite sporting teams in Australia either. That would have an entirely different meaning here. |
Please explain... I don't think I can even imagine |
Hm...how to put this politely.
Okay, father-to-be. (now there's one hint lol ) What does a screwdriver do? (There's another.)
That's is why I laugh whenever someone in Americal mentions rooting for a team. |
If I understand you correctly, I was rooting for a baby a lot lately |
Yes. Now will you be able to keep a straight face when someone you know uses that word in its U.S. context? Or will you picture the Aussie version? |

We use the term mate somewhat differently, too. Referring to someone of the same sex as your mate here in the states would mean you're a homosexual. Also, there are no blokes in the US and we don't have a dessert called spotted dick (unless of course your mate has contracted something or has poor hygiene). |

Isn't that one of those suet pudding things, sort of like [drowned baby? (and if you've read Patrick O'Brian you know what I'm talking about.)
Perhaps it is time to update our KWSNi cookbook with these recipes!

No idea what it's made from but it sounds bl**dy awful! I can't imagine anyone even contemplating serving up a bowl of spotted dick...not even to their worst enemy. _________________ My brain hurts.

Thank you for the intel. |
Wouldn't it be easier to get at the scottish type... nothing hindering access and all...
Oops... I think maybe you were talking about another subject entirely...

well, I can certainly see how the spotted variety wouldn't be edible... but what of the non-spotted variety? _________________ Sir Latch of the Highlands

Please forgive an old woman who speaks only Ausglish with a smattering of atrocious accent, but what is this Spanglish of which you speak? Is it English that sparkles with spangles?

IMO spanglish is a mix of spanish and english... in addition it may just be REALLY butchered english (or spanish) like when you just add an o at the end of an english word and... viola... its spanish... lets see, an example would be... umm... (why can't I think of one now?)... lighto *shrug* not a very good one but it'll have to do
