Well, you could always try to see what happens when accelerating the particles in a salmon's body #ni-1 Hitherto, I think they've only tried to smash atoms from inorganic oompounds together, not study it's effects in life itself #Rofl

Pullleeese... are you trying to infer that a bunch of guys like you, who are into STATS and trying to beat other teams, and whose processor is better than whose, and whose computers can crunch more than whose, aren't interested in a subject that requires phrases like, "Honest to god, dude, it was THIS big!"?

Hah!

Maybe Halibut discussion? I'm taking my family on a charter boat to Canadian waters and we intend to empty them.

Stats and brags are sure to follow.

Well, as many LHC crunchers might have noticed, their dBase had some hickups which necessitated Churlle to come in and assist them in getting things back up. Actually, as I understand it, Churlle was thinking of migrating over to helping Malaria with their project, though is looking for another job.

Anyhow, for a couple days there, reported WUs were getting the "WU not found". This is somewhat fixed, with some of the back pending credits having been applied, though not all. Not sure when they'll get some admins (as officially they have none), but Churlle is hoping sometime this summer when the intern students come in as officially he left, and is doing stuff on an unofficial/volunteer basis (not part of his job/assigned tasks anymore).

Well, it looks like there's another bit of LHC work. Though watch out, the deadlines really were 7 days this time, rather then 8 days like last at least on the units I pulled...

They are adding more WU's into the pool. Was 52k when I first looked at the page, now 64k.
[Edit] Now 72k. [/Edit]

I got some too so I shut down SETI and Einstein to run them.

No kidding. down to 65k Wu's now. Too bad I didn't set up boinc as a shared one, then I could add my P4 to the mix.

Was down to 41k, but is now over 60k... I think they might still be adding some WUs to the mix... Outa at least the initial one's I grabbed, another dozen or so that ended mostly in aprox. 10 mins or less #ni-1

I must have gotten some BIG ones! I grabbed 25 units and the first two have run for 5 hours already. The're about 90% right now. I hope I got a few of the short ones. Got a 7 day deadline for all of them.

Part of it's probably your computer. The full sized one's only take about 2.5 hours on my Athlon 64, though more then half have been short one's here... Not sure what the specs on your comp are however...

In this case i'm looking for advice. My computer is P4 HT @ 3.0 GHz. I used to crunch LHC much faster. The only thing I've done is update BOINC with crunch3r's version and SETI with crunch3r too. Einstein is askof optimized. I already tried shutting down BOINC and restarting and restarting the computer. Neither had any effect. It must have something to do with the upgrade to optimized BOINC. Any help or advice is appreciated.

I took your advice and stayed attached to the project, and just ignored the barrage of "no work" messasges. Now my two shrubbers are crunching LHC with the best of them. NI!

I suspect you can relax, I have a WU that has crunched 4 hrs 49 minutes and is 79% complete. P4 3 Ghz, 1Gb memory. Other WU's are faster...

On edit: Yep, that work unit took exactly 6 hours, the next one took 35 minutes...

So far everthing is taking about 5.5 hours to complete. I sure hope I got some shorter w/u's too.
I'm not sure this is the case. Take a look http://lhcathome.cern.ch/results.php?userid=6485 at my crunch times versus other computers. Some slower than mine.
