|
We spend our days deleting SPAMMERS from our (and your...) board. On the basis of the information available to us we make a judgement whether a new member is legitimate.... or not. If the verdict is 'not' the new member is deleted.
Dead giveaways are links to pr0n sites, to insurance sellers or to..... Another indication is whether a new member activates his account or not. Many spammers use fake e-mail addresses. They can register but can't activate.
In the process we've made a few mistakes. Some deleted alleged spammers took the trouble to contact (one of) us so we could set things straight. In other cases the new members were lost (forever?), which is a pity.
So if you're a new member, please activate your account soon after registereing and make a post in our 'New and departing members' forum. That's the best way you won't be mistaken for a spammer....
Thanks for your cooperation.
And .... if you've been accidentally removed, please accept our apologies, mail us and we'll help you to get in!

Might I recommend that this become a sticky at the top of the new member part of the forum. This way it stays at the top and has a good chance to be seen by all new members.

Announcements are sticky already. (We suspect Sir Baldy spilled something on it)
Our 3-headed Admin has been doing some hard work behind the scenes to cut the SPAM without removing legitimate members. It's a never ending task with little thanks, so THANK YOU! _________________ -- Have you seen my goat? |

As a new member 'round this here parts, let me say how welcome and refreshing it is to come to a new forum and be truely made to feel at home...Thanks to all the behind the scene (pay no attention to the man behind the curtains) partisipants, moderaters, administrators, and to the all powers that be for comming up with this zany whacked out concept in the first place!
WELL DONE!!
P.S.~ Also, thank you for not scalding me and kicking me out for my avatar....I know it's WAY bigger than the 80x80 alloted...maybe someone out there in the fortress can resize and host it so I can link to it? If it's no bother to anyone, I'm fine with keeping it the current size...there also are four or five other ones from whom I'm linked to that would make excellent Avatars....3 are Knights from Camelot dancing and the other is the Black Knight kicking the King....for what it's worth. |

Hello Sir DSotM, You can go HERE and register for free and upload all your images and even resize them. Then you can link to them all you want. Very easy to use. _________________

Sir DSOTM, have you uploaded both the original and resized avatar? It could possibly have something to do with a file size limit but I'm not sure. I haven't had a problem regarding remote linking with photobucket and I've been using it for maybe 3 or 4 years now. I did have a problem with file size limit though and had to edit my fish slap dance clip to reduce the file size.
Sir Baldyhead, jonnyv and MacG (in no particular order), we may not say it often enough but we really do appreciate all the effort you put in to keep the board the special place that it is.

The effort on behalf of the Admin is truly appreciated- many other forums/a have been ruined by that Scurrilous Species of Virtual Weed - Spammers -
PS - why would Sir H' of E' think that (We suspect Sir Baldy spilled something on it) ?? _________________ tilting windmills, rescuing damsels, etc |

One thing to do is durring the join process there can be a statement where the person has to agree to certain terms, like that they're not joining for the purpose of advertising for a company or organization. Is that already in place? |
