After months of not folding, I've put my new PS3 to better use and installed the Sony/F@H client.
7 hours/work unit - boggles the mind! It'll fold faster than all my 3 home and 1/2 work PCs combined - like I was never gone! _________________ Sig-What? |

Does it let you use your account name and such or are you just one of the nameless masses? I was curious about that when I read the article. _________________

Absolutely!
2 more shrubberies and hundreds of points in around 22 hours. Amazing!
The stats on the PS3 are stunning - they ALREADY beat out ALL other CPUs devoted to Folding in computational power, and are second only to the highly optimized ATI X1900XT GPU Beta code! _________________ Sig-What? |

Because they are also using an optimized code. One of the benefits of having a manufacturer backing your project hehe. Pretty cool idea though. _________________

There is great consternation and (immature, IMHO) cries of foul play about the artificial downgrading of PS3 flops in some quarters. Stanford is apparently 'downgrading' the PS3's' FLOP rating to keep things in line and not 'discourage' PC & Mac/Linux client users. Hey - whatever works, I'm not in it for the points, but the final goal/purpose. The points just make it fun to keep track of is all
BTW ... does anyone read this forum any more? 1 full day of PS3 shrubbery cranking (I know its not much, but just a gesture!) to whoever can guess my Folding ID (I've sprinkled hints in the other thread here about PS3 units running F@H). Seriously! _________________ Sig-What? |

... Makes me question my motivation to continue to Fold for the team. I understand other fashionable projects are available, but I intend to Fold for a while and am starting to wonder why I should fold for the Knights!?
What can be done to bring KWSN back to its former Folding Glory? It seems even small teams are overtaking our production, and will soon outstrip our totals. The whole altruistic feel-good DC thing NEEDS to be supplmeneted with a healthy competitive attitude - and I find mine festering her. So far! Prove me wrong! _________________ Sig-What? |

I dunno anything about folding. I'm a BOINC slut, so if it's not a BOINC project I'm fairly unlikely to give it any resources. After all, Al Dente is rapidly fading into the distance and my warp drive seems to have been replaced with an alpaca sandwich.

I've got one machine folding and one boincing. The folding machine is the one that my son uses for his games, so f@h does get paused quite a lot.
tishoo, we haven't forgotten f@h and how important the research is.

My wife's laptop is cooking with folding! 3GB processor and 256MB RAM - what a poor config!
(she is wondering why it is so slow now and wants me to upgrade it - I think I will too!) _________________
