Actually we had a tie election this time, but since we haven't shrubbed SkyNet / POGS for over a year, I just picked that rather than going through a set of tie-breaker votes. My apologies to the tie-maker voting Kanigits! And to WCG fans...
Quote: | TheSkyNet POGS ...will combine the spectral coverage of GALEX, Pan-STARRS1, and WISE to generate a multi-wavelength UV-optical-NIR galaxy atlas for the nearby Universe. We will calculate physical parameters such as: star formation rate, stellar mass of the galaxy, dust attenuation, and total dust mass of a galaxy; on a pixel-by-pixel basis using spectral energy distribution fitting techniques.

Starting stats:
15th Place
151,931,172. Total points
33,179. Average daily production

TheSkyNet POGS has an Android WU that runs just chipper on an "old" HTC-One. Could not get SETI to run without errors
I limited to 75% of 4 cores and 38.5 deg. C. temp. It stays cool and averages about 900 POGS credits per day +72 WUProp hours.
Pogs has given me my first WUPROP 25,000 hour star.

POGS website is suffering from some serious neglect.
I posted a couple of things there a month ago and had no response.
Latest twist:

Doesn't matter how I change it or what it is or sig or no sig... I'm a damn spammer and it hates me!!!
UPDATE: Sept 7 If I shut down my browser ad blocker and VPN and Peer-Block programs, it will allow me to post. So I did.
(Perhaps it was the whiny e-mail I sent them that fixed the problem.) |

My jobs are running fine on a low-end lenovo i3, 4.02 fitsedwrapper
This is my first time doing the monthly project, is there any signup or special things I have to do?
And I'll be banging on this end, too, I have a couple of tablets that are the seeds of my future server farm. So some work units may come in a bit late.
This leads me to a question.. when credits are awarded, they're based on the slowest processor of the three computers crunching the task. That leads me to believe my puny tablet may be a handicap. Is this true, and are any hints on handling this particular problem? |

I just noticed there is an 'in house' POGS open challenge going on that started on the 12th and runs for a few more days.
Anyone may enter, late entry permitted.
http://www.theskynet.org/challenges/91?locale=en
This is the first one since June.
With the recent renewed interest in POGS perhaps there will be more challenges this winter. _________________
