PrimeGrid has given some pretty interesting news.
Shortening deadlines to allow for more projects to be added.
Adjustable deadlines with using the trickle up messaging system.
Lowering the amount of downloadable tasks at a time, but daily limit stays the same to make queues shorter.
New OCL 2 for GFN that will allow CPU on GFN-WR units and add single precision GPU on all GFN.
All sounds like great news. The shortened deadlines do not matter as much because of the adjustable deadline. This just allows more types of systems to participate with allowing the faster systems to continue to push work out quickly and allow for faster turnaround time for larger projects if systems disappear or some other types of rogue issues.
To me this sounds like awesome forward looking ideas for this project. |

I did miss a little bit of information about the shortening of deadlines and then adjustable deadlines. If you go over the original deadline your client will still put it in high priority mode, as there is no way to send a message back with a new deadline at this time. This could cause havoc in some instances, especially if overbooked, running multiple projects, etc. Your initial deadline being shorter means that it will go into high priority mode sooner and may ignore other preferences even though the work is not late.
Now if any of you have the ear of the programmers, maybe help make mention that an answer back with a trickle may be something that is a necessity, allowing the project to adjust the client so units can stay in normal priority mode and have less issues. |
