Places aren't finalized just yet. Still a bunch of cleanup units to get everything validated. I don't see us losing a spot, but we could possibly gain one.

Just a reminder:

Code:
Just like the past five years, PrimeGrid is offering a little side challenge in February: the Tour de Primes. You can run any subproject you like, be it via our BOINC server or our PRPNet servers. Unlike the regular challenges, this one will not give you challenge points for the challenge leader board but you can win a unique badge.

I was just going to post about this. I'm in. I'm thinking all cores on SGS and leave the gpu on wrgenefer (might get lucky).

I am going to put my AVX on Cullen or Woodall. My regular on SGS. My slow NVida on GFN and the fast on GFN-WR (It will finish 2 in Feb, the one it's currently running and the next one).

You think it would be worthwhile to run cullen/woodall on the fast cpus for this? Or are you gambling?

Gambling, plus it gets me my WUProp credit I am looking for. Neither have had a prime in a long time. Woodall is Feb 2011 and Cullen Jan 2012. Chances have to be getting a little better.

I gained another spot in the stallion challenge yesterday. several people in there have tons of shrubs done incorrectly which will make this drag on. One guy has a ton that his old nvidia card completed them all in about 90 minutes each. But he's anonymous so can't send him a note that he has something borked in his set up.

I am keeping one system on POGS, since it looks like it is our CPU project of the month, and there is also a challenge there that we are signed up for. Once I get my tablet (probably next week), I will put that on POGS also.

Looks like my AVX will eat up Woodall units in about 41 hours, x 8 cores. Not bad, and if I hit one of those, bonus! It will be a mega and lots of points all over the boards. This is run different than others, so I already started my Woodall and the first ones will post tomorrow during the challenge. You do not need to start them at the start of the challenge (which starts in about 1.5 hours as of now). I will start the SGS about 15 minutes before because those go so fast.

1-Mar-2014 16-Mar-2014 18:00:00 SOB --PENDING-- 15 days

This has now changed to:
1-Mar-2014 16-Mar-2014 18:00:00 PSP - Double Top Secret Mystery Challenge - 15 days

Current recent average CPU time: 115:48:28
This project has a 35% long job credit bonus and a 10% conjecture credit bonus.

PSP is the only one I do not have any time in on WUProp, so this makes me happy that I will get over 5000 hours during the challenge as long as my systems hold out.

Remember the next challenge is coming up:

1-Mar-2014 16-Mar-2014 18:00:00 PSP (LLR) -- Double Top Secret Mystery Challenge -- 15 days

Information on PSP:
Prime Sierpinski Problem (LLR)
k·2n+1 for k=(79309, 79817, 152267, 156511, 168451, 222113, 225931, 237019)

Supported platforms:

Windows: 32bit, 64bit
Linux: 32bit, 64bit
Mac: 32bit, 64bit

Deadline: 21 days

Recent average CPU time: 113:24:21
This project has a 35% long job credit bonus and a 10% conjecture credit bonus.

LLR runs very intensive. It is best to not use HT when doing these. If your system is not stable enough you will error these units out. As you can see average time is over 4.75 days. On an AVX processor these will be faster. For example Woodall says average is 93 hours, my AVX runs them about 44 hours. So expect your slow machines only to be able to do maybe 3-4 units per core during the challenge.

Do we have any idea what the "Double Top Secret Mystery" might be?

That's the name of it. They have fun with some of the names of the challenges and they decided to go more or less 007 or other movies of that genre in the naming convention. To me it kind of has more of a feel of Austin Powers, instead of Bond, but who knows. Maybe only the shadow does?

PrimeGrid decided to set their Badges all to the same level. This means the Sieves got lowered to the same as LLR. A lot of Sieve, GFN and PSA badges were upgraded because of this, including closed Sieves and AP26.

Looks nice for me, as a few of mine did update.

As for challenges, the Pony Edition has been finalized. The Stallion Edition is still running from January and the PSP will be running for a while.

Next challenge is just over 10 days away.
Shakespeare's Birthday Challenge
Apr 20 16:16 to Apr 23 16:16 (UTC)
PPS-LLR (Only the larger ones count, the PPSE does not)
Recent average CPU time: 1:17:36

See you there?

That new FMA3 (AVX2) App is really kicking. My two that have it are spitting out these PPS units in about 1580s for the fastest, 1980s for the slowest. My next fastest is doing them in about 5180s each. What a speed up!!!

my lil ole AMD is doing the WU's in 3525 sec. ea.
only running 3 cores Embarassed

edit: I tried to run PPS (sieve) on the GPU at the same time running 3 cores of PPS - LLR .... big mistake, they don't play nice together.
The PPS-LLR went from 58 minutes each to 5+ hours !!!
I slammed the brakes on that idea and went back to running Milkyway on the GPU.
Whew !!! I didn't see any smoke, but I think it may have been close to igniting.
