SETI needs no intro, so get shrubbin!

Ahh crap, we need to expect a rough start:
Quote:
Server Relocation
We are moving most of our servers to a colocation facility with better cooling, power, and network, which should improve uptime in general. This procedure will start on Monday, April 1st at 08:00 (PDT) and should take 3 days to complete, during which our entire project will be unavailable.
20 Mar 2013

Starting Stats:
6th Place
1,394,269,693 Total points
732,892 average daily production
825,923 RAC 5th place
6th Place Formula Boinc 72,272,012 points YTD

Actually I haven't shrubbed SETI in so long, I'll probably need help with optimized apps?

Perhaps this one in particular...

Also, what are the differences between the projects listed below? I know about SETI Vs. Astropulse, but why two versions of each? What do I select if I want to shrub only GPU? I have "Use CPU" de-selected, is that enough?

SETI@home Enhanced
SETI@home v7
Astropulse v505
AstroPulse v6

Seti's running much much better than it has in years. They have a vastly greater connection.

650 credits for one GPU task. 2.5 hrs pays better than a 3 hr Asteroids task.

Yes, as long as you also set "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" to 'No'.

You drink the Kool-Aid? Poem GPU tasks pay ~3000pts. every 10-15min.

Project of the month is SETI, not POEM, I love poem for its 2850 credits per unit (which is why it is my leading project with way more than any of the others.) I suppose i could just run space rocks and aliens as cpu and then keep running poem gpu

My point was, SETI does not pay better than Asteroids. My GPU's cost more than a CPU core, will probably have a shorter lifetime, and cost a lot more in electricity to power and cool.

You're comparing apples to oranges by just looking at credits/hr.

Just saying. Rolling Eyes

While i like kool-aid i stick with soda myself. I see your point here Sir Gem. I never have much liked the idea of project to look for aliens. If they are out there they will find us, not the other way around. Also i would rather donate my computer to real science endeavors like finding cures for diseases or making sure giant space rocks stay far away from hitting the planet etc etc
