Well, it took a few months (and some not-so-lightweight shrubbers) to reach the #1 position on the KWSN F@H team...but there you have it.
Anyone wanna catch me????

Some few days ago, one of my shrubbers decided to blow-out its PSU.
Maybe it was a sympathetic reaction to Sandy?
So, for 5-6 days, I have been under my nominal 100K PPD at F@H.
I just got done replacing the PSU (what a pain!), and got it back doing something besides collecting dust.
And - of course - I couldn't get out of MicroCenter with just a new PSU; I couldn't resist a new "shiny-object": an AMD FX-8350 (8 core, 4.0GHz-stock).
This new CPU went into my more powerful shrubber (the one with the GTX-690).
I moved the FX-8150 (8 core, 3.6GHz-stock) to the shrubber I just reworked.
Now I have an FX-8120 (8 core, 3.1GHz-stock) laying about with nothing to do!

PM the Kings Own when he comes back from Disney Hell and between the two of you, you might be able to peice together another shrubber.

Sir Top, I see your 8 core CPU employs "piledriver microarchitecture". Fugedabout da GPU's, no wonder that beast kicks ass! (And certainly not in a ghey whey. ) Did you build it yourself?

Build it myself? Sadly, no. I let the folks at AMD and Nvidia do that!
But as far as assembling the rig...yes!
I figure that I save about 40% off the price as a DIY project.
You can get pre-built systems, but there's a hefty markup.
This was my 3rd self-constructed shrubberizer.
Every component on that build-list I can easily recommend to others.
No buyer's remorse with anything.
EDIT: I wrote a tounge-in-cheek review on Newegg for the EVGA GTX-690 Signature Edition using the wry pseudonym "Sal Monella" on 7/24/2012 5:58:55 PM
Some humorless people flame-posted back, but the Newegg mods removed those quite quickly.
You can find it approximately here, but you may have to go a page back/fwd.
Note, however, that I am a "verified owner" of the product. _________________ Click here for...KWSN F@H team summary at EOC

And sometime last night on Christmas Eve, I passed the 30 million point mark. WHEW!
But this has come at recurring cost , my electric bill has gone up about $220/month!
Although I expect my heating costs to be lower this winter since these shrubbers are quite sufficient space-heaters!

And cats love the computer room in winter. Get some cats, then your electric bill will be tax deductible.
I think, you might want to check with a CPA first.
Congrats on the 30M, too!!!

I love cats, but my landlord wants to charge a $500 damage deposit & $150/mo extra rent...per fur-person!
I have evenly distributed my three shrubbers, one in each bedroom, and one in the living room.
I did this because of 1) fan-noise, and 2) power/circuit-breaker load.
The heating distribution was just a side-effect.
Besides, I have enough trouble keeping up with vacuuming dust from the shrubbers [every 4-6 weeks].
Cat hair would just add more maintenance burden:

The hair isn't trouble, it's more the dust from the litter.

At least you kept falling forwards and not backwards.

Yes, but I do tend to drone on and on and on and on...and sometimes I start frothing at the mouth.
I haven't quite mastered the falling over backwards bit, yet!
