Here's first cut at the list. Deleting SkyNet/POGS and adding Distributed Data Mining.
ABC
Climate Prediction
Correlizer
Constellation
Cosmology
Distributed Data Mining
EDGeS V
Malaria / three projects
MUON 1 V (Non-boinc)
Number Field Sieve
OProject V
Primaboinca
RNA World
Rosetta
SETI
SubSetSum V
Sztaki Desktop Grid
World Community Grid
YoYo
Vacation / No CPU POTM
The following projects were taken off the ballot temporarily last month - Any reason to add 'em back on? Note 20 projects max on the list, so something else would have to go...
Eon - bouncy work server
Leiden Classical - 20 projects max on ballot, something had to go.
Quantum Monte Carlo - project servers are (still!) moving.
Anything new? Any erratic projects to remove from the list? |

Are any of these projects Guaranteed to crap out during our PotM?
That is the one I vote for.... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Correlizer hasn't been giving work. It's page says it has '1' unit to send out.
Vacation has a variety of work available but I don't think we'll pass any teams.
primaboinca has 50 WUs. Don't know if that can be increased.
ABC has 0 and makework isn't running.
Possible worthy additions to replace the three above:
Almeregrid
SAT
mind modeling

Primaboinca always has 50 WUs, they generate replacements as quickly as they're downloaded. _________________

That is quite looney. Maybe they are a good choice then!
For the newcomers, please note the correct spelling of looney.

PrimaBoinca also pays VERY Well. As I recall 1k + per WU.
But there have been issues with work.. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Which malaria? the new one, Fight malaria, gives me TONS of work. Never had a WU run over 5 minutes though. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Take out ABC and Climate Prediction for this month.
I have never had a primaboinca work since they always show 50 ready to go.

A couple of months ago when I was Prima-ing my rac was 10k+ on that project....
I'm only running one Quad core now. But yesterday I spent a couple hours looking at the 9 or 10 computers sitting in the garage along with the 4 video cards just gathering dust.... _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Looking at the stats, Correlizer and ABC are definitely out for lack of work. Not so sure 'bout Primaboinca and Climate, so will leave 'em in for now?
AlmereGrid looks a little sketchy when the # 1 team shrubs only 400K in a month? Need more research - or a sponsor to vouch for it?
SAT and Mind Modelling seem better and either would be a Stomp-Fest.
Sorry Sir Yankton - even though Vacation has the lowest Stomp Factor of all projects, we're leaving it in anyway!
So here's a revised list - waddya think?
Climate Prediction
Constellation
Cosmology
Distributed Data Mining
EDGeS V
Malaria / triple project
Mind Modelling V
MUON 1 V (Non-boinc)
Number Field Sieve
OProject V
Primaboinca
RNA World
Rosetta
SAT V
SETI
SubSetSum V
Sztaki Desktop Grid
World Community Grid
YoYo

Climate had a server go down recently so some of the WUs are not uploading, unless they have now fixed that i wouldn't keep it _________________

climate is FUBAR. They seem to have no fix for the problem other than to suspend network communication until they get around to fixing the problem. Maybe if it can be fixed, they are not sure.
Suspend Boinc that is. Really not an option as I run Milky and Eon that are network intensive.
I'm sitting on 500 hours of completed work with no way to get it back to them. I'm gonna finish the 700 more hours that I have and then I will be done with them for another Decade....
I've never heard of SAT or Mind Modelling, are they legitimate projects, I remember the artificial intelligence one that was a For Profit venture run by a Major Tool. I don't want no part of that stuff _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

I'm checking out Mind Modeling and they are doing some interesting stuff. Its run by the University of Dayton Research Institute and Wright State University in Dayton OH.
Also here is the description
Quote: | MindModeling@Home (Beta) is a research project that uses volunteer computing for the advancement of cognitive science. The research focuses on utilizing computational cognitive process modeling to better understand the human mind. We need your help to improve on the scientific foundations that explain the mechanisms and processes that enable and moderate human performance and learning. Please join us in our efforts! MindModeling@home is not for profit. |
Note the last sentence, no profits
They are beta but things seem to be going well for the project.
As to SAT it looks like they are run by a group of Russians and they are part of the same larger group as Edges@Home (Same logo on their site.)

Almeregrid does seem to be a smaller project and was originally just supposed to be some freaky deeky dutch (They're just so.....evil). That and lack of exposure may explain it's small following.
On a side note (and I haven't seen anyone messing with it) avoid SLinCA. upload errors galore and around six weeks later the admin still hasn't joined the discussion or made a fix.
Will we be including separate entity beta/test projects? (Seti beta, albert, ralph, etc) _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Ralph only has work every now and then so i doubt we could manage to run much of a PoTm with them. _________________

I say put in SETI Beta, it is fairly stable with a lot of work available. If we put some resources behind it, the pending credit should not last long as it can now since a lot of people do not shrub it; or do regular SETI.
Ralph rarely has work, might as well just do Rosetta.
SAT looks to have plenty of work, trying it out now.

With a stomp in SAT we could move into the top 40, since we are 41st right now.
