That's not good, however one slices it. About the only thing one can do, is if it's a laptop or somehow portable, and one can either plug in at work, a friend's house, or whatever; is what I had to do for the period I didn't have Internet at home.
Set a queue for enough work, and sync BOINC up when one can get to a network somewhere else. CPDN and some other projects with either long WUs, or at least a sufficiently long enough deadline where one can plug in at a friend's house, without looking like a permanent fixture on their couch would be good. Stoppying by once or twice a week (depending on the friend), and explaining the need to get online briefly, before going and doing whatever might seem reasonable. Daily though, they might wonder....
CPDN and a few other projects are ideal for those long network down periods.... Primegrid also has a few projects one can set their CPU to get exclusively that will take an extra long time to crunch as well At least it could keep the CPUs busy, though the GPUs, I don't think Prime has week long GPU tasks for obviosu reasons... _________________

Umm
I'm sorta doing this at the moment
http://www.seti-germany.de/Wow_2012/anmeldung.php?lang=en
so trying to get rid of other tasks still in the queue that would, well interfere with the return....
But yes, many are ramping up competition on that project all around. Sicituradastra is a particular pain.... _________________

All I have are big mid-tower desktops, but I have 2 crunching muon's stand alone client, all my Poem, etc. passed their deadlines. _________________

muon's standalone is good for that sort of thing because you have to have at least 10 results before you can send em back to brooks _________________

Though it doesn't pay anywhere's near the topl, Climate takes around 5 days to a week to complete. One can visit a friend weekly, without it seeming like one's just over there to use the Internet. If on a laptop (though desktops sort of elliminates that, which from mid-towers I'm guessing, yes that would be odd to walk over with a car full of computers), it'd be easy to plug in...
If it's waiting for Internet to be installed at a new address, there's always dialup for the few days. It's a pain, and slow as hell for today's Internet, but could allow a quick temp connection for things just like this. Though if one goes with a, a trial for a dialup account one will cancel works best, as one doesn't want to keep paying for something after broadband is back in the house; it's best to avoid things that would take ages to upload/download as per the BW limitations.... _________________

Yes, it would be odd but very impressive to walk over with a car full of computers.
Fortunately, as of last night I'm back online.
It wasn't a total loss, The 2 shrubbers I had on the Muon stand alone client bumped me from 9th to 5th place in rank within KWSN.

Wait. Your internet went out on the 7th and you didn't notice 'til almost noon on the 18th? Must have been one *&^% of a bender!

Actually, depending where one lives, watching too much pr0n could get the Internet throttled back. From what I heard from some in Australia, Telstra is infamous for throttling people's Internet for downloads
Depending how all goes, I might be moving next year, if that happens I'll have to get my FiOS moved. Not a biggie, except calling out from work just to stay home and babysit for the FiOS guy to arrive might be difficult. I could ask for a day if I ask sufficiently in advance to give work time to call someone in to cover that day, for the movers, but unless Verizon can coordinate on that same day, that could be difficult without asking someone else to babysit...
Like with cable companies, they're notorious, they don't schedule a time, they schedule a window (4 hours long) for which they might show up sometime within.... Then hookup takes longer UPS and Fedex can be just as bad _________________
