If no one at eOn shovels some more work into the servers soon, there might be a problem. All 10 knights at eOn keep an eye on the spare WU graph

Edit - big fat juicy WUs left to do - take 3 times longer but lots more points Smile

Edit 2 - Eeeeww, some of these are those 3 hour extra long johnnies. Sad

Problems at eOn with work being cancelled and aborted after being done. Take a pause people as this might not be solved until Monday. E-mail sent to head honcho.
Sad

E-mail back from Vice Head Honcho (is n't that a rock band?)
"This was a part of a benchmark calculation that was being performed for an upcoming paper. We wanted to determine how quickly on average we could solve a certain global optimization problem. I wanted to run several simulations and average them together to get an estimate of how quickly the distributed computing project could accomplish this task. In order to do that I needed to cancel any outstanding workunits after a certain time frame so that the next simulation would start running on all of the computers. I have enough information now that I don't need to run in this aggressive way. Thanks for putting up with it. We should have a paper out before too long that shows some of our results."

Back to crunchin' as normal guys and gals!

Edit - seems like I spoke to soon - no work and the credits are only 1/3 what they were ... Mad

Edit 2 - work back ... don't know on credits. Confused

On credits, and large percentage reduction, Vice Head Honcho,
"Projects don't have any control over how the credit system works. In my opinion the credit system is too complicated and doesn't fairly reward work. We don't do anything to change how much credit is assigned for each work unit. This is somewhat by design as otherwise there would be massive point inflation. I wish that there was a simple way to insure that everyone received the correct amount of points, but I'm not sure of a way to do that. Typically, when we change the length and type of our work the credit system goes crazy for a while and then fixes itself."
Further complaint lodged!
Idea - cpu time * n (amount per unit of CPU time) - there, damn simple!

Jeez! #ni-1

No work folks (or very little) again. As it's the middle of the night in Austin now, you might want to look at some other projects for work.

Credit rewarding has always been an issue.

Maybe the Texas bandwidth is being swallowed up by Big Oil.
