Usually those search strings are put in white text on a white background, or somehow concealed to the eye, to prevent peeps from looking away with a "my eyes hurt, forget you" :d

They don't want a search to lead to that spam post, they want their links associated with commonly used search terms and increase the number of credible sites that link to their sites. That increases the chance of their sites appearing in the results of a search containing some of the words in their spam post.

Hey, you gotta let me take pot shots and jabs at them. Those low lifes deserve it, so if they're going to force me to see their spam, the very least I should have, is the opportunity to troll them a lil... They've deserved far worse, tbh #ni-1 Even if that particular spammer won't be back to see what we're saying about them. But umm OK, perhaps they kill puppies and eat kitties for lunch might be a better pot shot at them. But the spammer's wall of text, left the door wide open to slam them a little Very Happy It's just too bad we can't discourage spammers from returning, they seem to carpet bomb the forums a lot with their continued spam posts day after day, and year after year Surprised Surprised

I'm not trying to stop you from taking pot shots, in fact if you locate one of the turds let me know and we'll give him a most memorable bad day. Twisted Evil

Perhaps, just perhaps if the spammer ticks off Anonymous, he could get first hand experience with the old adtage "karma's a b****" Laughing

This is becoming very annoying (6+ spam posts in less than 3 hours?). Don't you think this verification might help reducing them?

For the fricken love of gawd, can someone IP ban this spammer? Short of locking their IP address out from site access, someone DoS attack their computers, and deny them Internet access, plz... We promise we won't inquire about the legality of it, if someone just takes them offline and keeps them off for a time #ni-1

Though if they are scouring it, I seem to remember a spam bot killer bit one could direct them to, by having them follow a link to a page that would generate a near infinite number of phoney email addies, which would throw their bot net into an infinite loop until it could cause their software code to crash or something. Perhaps that would be fair play, if one could get that connected to some of the threads they keep starting. I'd love to see the spammers computers forced to BSOD, course a lil invansive program that would force them to have to reformat would be nice too :p

It seems the SPAMmers have our number and are not going to let up.

My suggestion is to put in human verification before a user can post. At least temporarily (a month or two) to discourage this.

I think we need the services of a computer hacker at this point, to start causing them about as much grief as they're causing us. A nice boot virus, programmed to BSOD their computers would do nicely, along with a lil ping of death to their servers, that cause them so much lag their ability to even get online is removed from their harassing, pesky lil selves. The karma will be well earned at this point....

You mean this little piece of software? http://www.auditmypc.com/freescan/antispam.html

PS All this spam seems to come from the same people - their "about us" webpage is exactly the same, whether it's Gucci, Chanel, Tiffany or whatever brand.

Well that would work too, if they were physically close. Unfortunately most spammers seem to operate their computers outside of China or some other such place; which leaves getting there another matter altogether... #ni-1

They do this, because US ISP's have tended to close them down when finding out who they are, in part because they don't want their own networks black listed by other ISPs when the other ISP's find out that their mail servers are being flooded from them. In certain countries, there doesn't seem to be the same attention to detail to locate these annoyances, to get them off line. Except for the time slashdot.com decided enough was enough and before putting out the real life contact info for Mr. Rawlsky following his media interview where he discussed the house that spam helped him build; they wrote to Chinese officials suggesting that his spams were giving off military secrets to encourage the military to remove his online presence first, and only ask questions after Laughing

A DoS attack would work, even if they are physically thousands of mines away #ni-1 Would just have to track where they're connecting from, so as to trace them online #evil

Yeah, that was the one, though the text they provide is in html, and the signature blocks only allow bbcode, so not sure it will work as such. This said, I think they line they provide just makes the text humanly invisable, if I'm understanding what they're doing correctly, so that machines would follow but peeps wouldn't know a link is there. We can try, and see if we can begin corrupting their spam databases a lil #ni-1

Perhaps if we become more toruble then we're worth for the spammers, they'll go bother someone else Laughing

Oh, and here's something for our web admin to look at

http://www.stopforumspam.com/

A database of common spammer usernames and associated IPs that have been collected from site to site....
