I've been folding ...er... shrubbing along happily, and could add a 64-way server to my workforce on a temporary basis recently. But then suddenly FAH is not giving out new WUs anymore. My AMD-based client says:
[15:21:54] + Attempting to get work packet
[15:21:54] Gpu type=1 species=4.
[15:21:54] - Connecting to assignment server
[15:21:55] + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[15:21:55] + Couldn't get work instructions.

I'm mostly running GPU-based versions, no older than 6.23, mostly 6.41.

This happens at work, too. The 6850 is idle in that box, and it would be such a fine shrubber...

I have looked the web for indications of a FAH problem and have found none. I see the KWSN team member stats don't move, so this not just a problem with my various machines.

Does anybody have information about what's doing on here?

EDIT: Oh, GPU fan is spinning up, I just got new work for my box from FAH!

I haven't been folding for a while. The EVGA team is heavily into folding but I don't see any mention of a problem on their forum.

You might try asking there, they're generally helpful.

Have a look here http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=21337. Might try updating the client to v.7

Ah, new client. That solved it!
Not sure why my Nvidia-based and non-GPU client also did not receive work, but who cares...

Well, who's to blame when you search for client updates using folding or FAH and download, and all you get is 6.x download pages, no reference to v7 download pages?

The link off http://www.katrinashome.com/Projects/11_folding/Stat_Default.html takes you to http://folding.stanford.edu/Download which does not exist anymore and hosts the 6.x download.

The v7 download is ONLY on the home page...

A combination of stupid user, stupid search engine and web content managers with lack of intuition...

Glad to hear you're working. Very Happy
v7 is still beta so I'd suggest keeping an eye on the Folding Forum.

Version 7.1.52 tells a different story...note I'm not using an "advanced client" right now, I'm using the regular client.

Anyway, I suspect I'm not the only one who completely missed the new version, I see other KWSN FAH members moving VERY slowly while I make very good progress, it seems you get more credit with the new client. Highly optimized code, or slower rate of WUs the last days before they came to a grinding halt, I'm not sure...

It would make sense if the FAH project sent out notification to users on this.

To illustrate my point, today's ranking in FAH:
19 KWSN-CrunchyFrog 2332833 10263
I was at ~2250000 credits yesterday, ~80000 in one day. This was like two weeks of shrubbing just recently.

Yes, I have modernized my regular workforce recently and have 32 addtl. Intel XEON CPU cores for the next few weeks, but that's not ten-fold of what I got before. It's not like there are some Teslas or a rack of AMD GPUs at my disposal.

I'm not really complaining as I'm entering the top ten of KWSN Folding team by the end of June if this goes on...
Time to move the thread to the bragging yard? Laughing

Shrub 'til you drop, I say. Get the points while you can and strut your stuff in the bragging yard!
